All things being equal, I’d love a heated wheel. My circulation has taken a dive.

Well duh I know that. You're missing my point.

Why is resale so high? Because they DON'T wear out, so people don't get rid of them, so there aren't a whole lot for sale. I could probably find you a couple of 98 Dodge Rams for the price of a 1st Gen Tacoma.

In other words, Toyota has a reputation for quality and reliability. THAT'S why you're paying $40K. It's a Toyota, it's worth $40K. I could give a damn if it has bluetooth or not.

Chevy, Ford, and Dodge always advertise the advanced features of their vehicles because they know that, when you boil it all down, it's still a Chevy, Ford, or Dodge, and a HUGE piece of crap.

Yes the current SR and the utility package is pretty great. I'm talking more long the lines of manual windows, manual locks, rubber floor, no radio, no TSS, stripped to the bone.

Not me, I won't be complainin. I'm going to work with my dealer(s) and get a dam good deaL Been trading in vehicles past 30 years. Once your right side up and pay on the spot you can work very good deals, that's been my experience with Toyota and Ford. Do it about every 30 to 36 months cause I rack up close to 30K a year. Chevrolet, mmmm, not so much. 94 Z28 cost me abit. Dodge, been hearing past 30 years tranny and suspensions are not durable unlike the resilient Toyota Tundra and Tacoma (3 each so far). I've had few Ford 150s & a 250 . Solid vehicles, especially if you need to work them hauling, pushing and pulling. Now the Tacoma is so much more munervable in my environment. Suburbs of Boston. You can squeeze through dense humanity a little easier in the Tacoma then a full size rig. I want my top of the line Tacoma PLUSH!

Yep, as I mentioned here and previous threads this is why we wont see a 4th gen till 2023 as a MY2024, the tundra being delayed pushed back all the other vehicles in line that share the TGNA-F platform, that and Toyota will likely be waiting to see where consumers go or demand as hybrid/electric powertrains become more popular.

A friend and I had a conversation like this ~25yrs ago. He thought I was nuts for wanting exactly what you just described.

I had a couple trucks form my view of what a truck should be. Drove one of my boss's trucks that was a low optioned 1976 Chevy short bed 4x4 with 4spd and later on a Toyota Hi-lux shop truck. Those two drove my view as to what a truck should be.

As kids we always scoffed at the "soft" trucks like the Gentleman Jim. Never have wanted one. Guess I'm just a freak lol.
