First gen double cab long beds?

The 4x4 V6/Auto Xtracab and Double Cab share these same dimensions (at least according to the 2003 TRD catalog):

• Overall length w/rear bumper: 202.9"
• Wheelbase: 121.9"
• Track (front/rear): 57.5/57.3"

And a few differences between the 4x4 V6/Auto Xtracab and Double Cab:

• DC curb weight is +165lbs
• DC payload is -165lbs

It is a 4COMA! The result of an unprotected one night stand involving a Tacoma and a 4Runner. I actually like it for it's uniqueness. All it needs is a GM Quadrasteer rear axle.

I would like to see pictures of the frame and other required mods.

 

I just finished this build. Had to stretch the frame and all the wiring. Definitely more work than i was expecting but it’s one of a kind!

What do you want to know?
Cut the frame, extend, place a single cab or Xtracab bed on extended frame. Extend some other things like brake wiring, fuel lines, brake lines.

 

I suppose to just see a build thread on it. I’ve seen several DCLBs but never a thread on it. Keep saying I want to do it but got too much to do on the truck that takes precedence over a project like this. Would be cool to check out someone’s thread on it

 

Seems like most of these owners have other things to do than make threads on the internet ... like be out in the shop or driving their truck(s).
That's at least the case with the guy here in Denver I'm not tagging him here to avoid people from bugging him

I got a bed cage for a 6” bed.
Planning to do a partial back half and was hoping to not have to shorten the cage to accommodate the short bed. Thinking about boxing and extending the frame and mounting some 6’ glass on the side of the cage. Won’t be anytime soon but it’d be badass to pull off.

 

Did you ever find a build thread or complete the 4door / long bed swap? Contemplating swapping my ext cab...

Bought this parts truck and the bed ended up being too flawless not to use to swap my double cab even though I was unsure. Will be a while before I get around to it though.

 

Do the body lines match up from the earlier 1st gens to the 2001-04 1st gens? I know the taillights and wheel well flares are different. And the earlier trucks have a locking gas door.
