Can't use it "in eye sight" of the audience?! When the heck did that start?! I didn't use any for the last couple competitions and those were a few years ago but when I first started and for years, that was just part of your equipment! lol The stuff we used looked like goo be gone and was thick like molasses. I had been using it in a small bottle for a long time, then somebody told me to use an old pill bottle or something with a wider top so I did. Had it sitting in my bag for the week and got ready to do a heavy squat, popped the top and shoved my nose down in the bottle and took a deep breath...:boom:Just about saw stars! Felt like I lit my nasal cavity on fire. haha

I almost got sucked into the “funk” tonight after work, got home and waited for traffic to die down before heading to the gym, ended up sitting over an hour and a half at home and not feeling like going.
I went and put my shoes on and drank some water and I half felt like going so I went, very glad I did.
Gym was quiet, not as quiet as 3 months ago but not packed like Monday night.
Started with a warmup on the bike, did 10 minutes at 92 target RPM and level 10 resistance, went to 75 RPM and level 15 resistance and really started sweating, held it for 5 minutes and then went back to my faster pace with lower resistance for another 5 minutes with a 20 second sprint over 100 RPM to finish out before cool down.
I did some core work and then did the circuit for 25 minutes, utilizing not only the weigh machines (my preference) but also doing light cardio in between to keep HR elevated.

I have to say, I really enjoy the Lat Pull down, I’m still moving the weight around on it but I did 15 reps of 90lbs tonight and it felt good.

I think it’s just the unrealized stress and what not of starting a new job. May be getting sick. Maybe lack of sleep. Went to bed much earlier last night and felt better today energy wise. We shall see how tomorrow goes! I do find myself more tired when I sit and do nothing all day than when I’m moving around and active. I stood more at work (got myself one of them standing desks at work too) and walked to lunch today so maybe that helped :notsure:

Got a big day on tap today and couldn’t sleep so I got up at 4:30 and went to the gym. Got in and out before the sun even came up. As promised, here’s a post lift selfie. Still carrying some holiday fluff, but I’m actually lighter than before they started

    happy flex Friday

just switch to the snap packs. Cheaper and same effect. When I’m “on deck” I keep one behind my ear or in my palm while I’m up there jiggling around to keep warm right when they say the bar is loaded I’d turn around pop it then rush up and lift. I’ve never used them for squats though it does take me longer to set up for a big squat than any other lift.

So @Supra TT what does your week look like?

I am coming to terms with the fact that I may need to do a bodybuilder type routine/split after surgery as I will be limited to upper body only for awhile.

Maybe you can offer up some suggestions on how to get me in the gym 4 days a week without using my lower body.

Maybe like a chest/tri day back/bi day and like a plain shoulder day?
Maybe just a push/pull day alternating every other day?

What surgery are you having? You may be a bit more limited than I was but you still can do plenty.

Part of my recovery was to ride the stationary bike for 10-20min every day, beginning the day after surgery. But other than that, I wasn’t allowed to carry more than 25lbs so I did everything seated or lying.

I basically did a PPL split bodybuild style (high reps, lower weight). Bench I did with my legs flat on the bench so not to transfer any weight through my hip or legs. Everything else I did seated, OHP with dumbbells. Lots of curls. I moved benches around so I could prop my leg on it and use cables, etc...

For legs I still did stuff like leg extensions since it’s isolated and the hip doesn’t really move. Just have to get creative with what you’re able to do

I’m basically having my lateral meniscus sewn to my bone. So I will be pretty limited. My surgeon has made it very clear my expectation should be nothing for 4 months. I think hes taking that stance because he works with athletes and knows its best to cut us off entirely and only give expectations of activity in recovery to prevent people from doing too much.
My expectations should be to not do a single squat or run a single step for 4 months. His words.

My knee will need to remain pretty straight for awhile outside of just sitting. So I probably will be limited to sitting movements only, maybe standing if its light stuff for arms.

I want to set up a plan for myself just to help focus and motivate myself. I’m not wanting to really gain mass but anything to keep me moving and maintaining mass will keep me happy. I basically just want to be efficient with what I chose to do.
I can show up and do 200 bicep curls everyday but thats obviously not an effective use of my time.
