Added a tow controller. Decided to go here instead of the coin holder tray spot like most others since I throw my phone in that slot sometimes

Agreed, but my backseat is full of carseats. I can barely fit a duffle bag back there...

...though I can't exactly access the space behind the back wall easily. Perhaps a 10" sub will go back there :D

My first priority though, quiet that dang Metra faceplate and radio from shaking so much. I've already gone as far as putting electrical tape everywhere that you couldn't see it to try to make things rest together. It helped, but not much. SInce you say that yours doesn't rattle, I might look to see if I can order some OEM clips. The Metra ones SUCK.

Worst case, you can order the brackets on ebay for the OEM radio and see if that helps with your vibration. I think the Metra clips are undersized for their application, which makes them less hearty, which in turn allows the faceplate to move in place. I think if I had reused the OEM brackets it would just be that much stronger and honestly, I wish I had to avoid future issues, but for now they're quiet and solid.

I also put a radio in that's about half the depth of a normal double DIN (Kenwood DMX7706S). That might be a mitigating circumstance, it's less heavy than others.

Also, at least you have space for shallow mounts because of your double cab. I am looking at some of the little tiny active box subs to put under a seat, at this point. :D

    Engine Coolant low alarm system

After the plastic coolant bypass pipe catastrophically failed on the freeway cooking my engine, how the hell would you know this had happened?

The only indication I could think of is a rapid loss of coolant temperature on the gauge... Humm who the hell pays that much attention to that?

I located a sensor made for detecting this condition from Gems Sensors & Controls

    CAP-300 Series Capacitance Level Sensor

I used a inline temp sensor adaptor and opened it up to 1/4 npt, tapping it so the tip of the sensor is fully immersed in the coolant

Using an inexpensive solid state relay I am driving it directly from the switched output of the sensor negating the need for a controller or some other hardware / software

I have a red led/buzzer indicator on the panel

The sensor I selected turns on the output when there is no coolant, when starting the engine the led/buzzer lights/chirps briefly indicating to me the system is functional

People can play semantics (word play) all day long and if a person can't use a product that's designed to be used by itself without needing another products parts to get a quality job done then it's a sh!t design, IMO of course.

People that have the stereo stolen typically do not have the luxury of having their old (stolen) parts. Metra kits are designed to be used as the sole part and if no additional parts are used the end result will be disappointing.

The way I'm reading this is like someone is offended but I am absolutely positive that particular someone didn't design the Metra kit so it seems odd they'd be offended. To each their own I guess.

I am 100% disabled, I have good days and I have bad days. On my bad days everything is affected, including my reading comprehension/concentration ability, I'm not offended in the slightest and I'm not trying to provide excuses or trying to pass the buck - I'm providing legit reasons. It'd be nice if people thought about having no clue what another person is going through prior to replying but that'll never happen online.

I hope ALL OF YOU have a fantastic day, it's FRIDAY BABY!

Please note, I am not offended. In my posts I explicitly have stated that I am only sharing my own experience and that experience might change.

I don't care what people do, I was just confused based on my own limited experience thus far. Why this has become a thing is beyond me. If you feel the need to refute my own experience, that's fine, go for it.

I have considered those as well, as storage space is at a premium in these trucks. But most of them are 8" and I've rarely been impressed with an 8" sub.

I have the Kenwood DDX3XXXXBT (don't remember all the numbers).

Just like someone else said. Costal Georgia Winter Storm made my exterior all flower jizzy so I detailed the interior.

I used the Metra single DIN kit only thing I had to do was open up the 4 way flasher area so the button wouldn't stick. It fits tight and no rattles but then its only a street truck

Great! No refuting here. I absolutely believe it worked well for you because I've done the same thing many times. The company that I worked for almost exclusively used Metra. The only times I've used Scosche is on my own vehicles and maybe 5 different customers vehicles that had purchased their own kit. I've only used a Scosche kit once on a 2nd gen Tacoma. The company that I worked for used a Metra kit, new Metra harness, new Toyota clips, new Toyota brackets, new Toyota wiring repair kits, and new Toyota screws because they could charge their customers cost + 30% + labor at $76.50 an hour for each part. I think the kit labor was around $26, it's been a while. Plus labor for each screw, I think it was $3 and change for labor. Each wire harness got labor billed as well. Etc...
