I have been slacking a little in this thread (caught up on maybe the last 30pages) have the base kit numbers been released? I know we're all waiting on the powermax numbers..

Money not being a major issue, but bang for buck being more relevant.

But those still use standard port injection as the primary fuel source right?

 

I’ve been back and forth on those numbers. Unless the base kit can squeeze another 50hp/tq with more boost I will be essentially going backwards in power. Will have to see the powermax numbers.. Hmmm what to do?

He said 380+ is definitely possible with the base kit. Those number are at 6psi, he also says the base kit will be capable of 12-14psi. I'm hoping for 400whp myself

 

That's on 6psi.
run our fuel pump controller and fuel pump and run more boost.

That was a question i had ,will the fuel pump controller and fuel pump work with base kit and is it recommended or is it more of a must have?

 

Required for more than 6psi?

 

I have no idea, obviously, but I bet it's around 12-13psi before you run outa fuel.

 

I tested *up to* 10 psi with the completely stock fuel system. (PEAK of 10psi, not 10psi @ rev limit. Tapering down to about 5psi at rev limit, peak 10psi at about 2000 rpm) and it was OK, but beyond that definitely it's needed.

 

Not going to read back but I asked for an explanation a good while back about horse power ratings on his graphs or even words. I was having a hard time seeing value in a truck that supposedly got 278 hp from factory and with the turbo kit bumping it up to 325. Just didn’t seem like much but his added hp ratings were at the wheel which our truck gets something around 200 at the wheel stock. That said it’s a worthy investment just for the base kit alone for the cost difference. Essentially it adds over 100 hp at the wheel where it matters and that’s plenty sufficient for me. I can’t imagine a midsized truck with that much hp at the wheel being able to even slightly keep traction with so little weight in the back.

Another thing about crazy amounts of hp at the wheel on our trucks made me think that the big turbo kit was that spending wouldn’t stop at just the turbo purchase and install as more modifications to the truck would be needed to handle that much power. I could be wrong but the base kit will be plenty sufficient for me personally.

 

Thanks good to know will be adding it to base kit as of now may change to power kit dont want to regret not getting the big boys! Count me in.

 

And based on where he claims max torque (~2500rpm i believe) there will be an even larger difference than what max figures would have you believe. The turbo tacoma will certainly be able to burn rubber as the stock motor struggles with like 150lbft at 3k and much less below that (though his stock dyno numbers show much less below that, I'm not sure he was able to get great numbers at lower rpm due to the shift logic.)

 

The base kit was tested on ~6 psi.
It's capable of around12-14psi before temperatures go out of boundary.(peak!. 14psi @ rev limit will be a flame thrower. Expect closer to 7-9psi @ limit)
It will not make what the powermax does, but there is still plenty of power left in the base kit.
That being said, it is a BASE kit and is not ideal if you're looking to make the bigger numbers.
It does not come with the required fuel system upgrades.
Also our fuel pump controller does NOT function with the stock fuel pump. You have to upgrade to our pump.
