EFI 3 vs INJ fuses

Quick question on this topic. Does it matter which way the add a fuse is plugged in as long as the INJ fuse is on the bottom? A local shop got me all freaked out I could fry some wires if I plug it in the wrong way.

 

Technically, there IS a right and wrong way. The good thing is that either way works just fine, without risk of frying wires.

The difference is that when plugged in the right way there is no additional current going thru the INJ fuse, but plugged in the wrong way there is. Think of it as adding the extra fuse to either the battery side or load side of the INJ fuse.

For a small added load like grill lights, I don't think it matters.

I've got the Morimoto led headlights, and the instructions say to plug the fuse tap for the DRLs into the EFI fuse. I've noticed that the DRLs do come on with the engine off as described in this thread. Do you guys think it'd be okay to tap into the INJ fuse instead for this application? Thanks!

 

I recommend that you follow Morimoto's instructions. Or call them first.
Me, I'd use the INJ fuse.

 

Just ordered my Raptor lights and I'm so happy to have come across this post. Really was not wanting to splice in to wires so I ordered that add a fuse. This is awesome!

 

Quick question, I'm out here installing my lights, I also have a 20a fuse like the guy above me has and when I connect everything my lights just come on and stay on. I just cranked it up and turned it off. Lights are still on.. like there is constant power. Any ideas?

 

Fuses upside down perhaps? I just read up. Yellow is my 20amp INJ and the Orange is the 5am they came with.

 

Ok.... So I guess I just needed to talk to myself. I figured it out. I was using the 20a D INJ fuse when I should have been going up in the box and finding the REAL 10a INJ. Works just fine now.. jeez. I shouldn't have drank all that beer last night.

I feel like my add a fuse didn’t want to crimp down and I tugged it a smidge and it was fine but felt like if I gave it any effort it might come out lmfao what happens if I hit a bump and it does come disconnected from the add a fuse that I have my lights running into with the INJ fuse which then goes into the fuse box lmao

 

To the best of my knowledge, the add a fuse does not interfere with the original circuit so if it failed your original fuse will still function normally.

 

Also how did you all run your add a fuse in and be able to shut the box without pinching it

I just let it bulge around it and pinch it a little bit. Still hasn't damaged the wire insulation after a year, no big deal. Some people feed it through the wire bundle that is already leaving the fuse box, requires tinkering with the clip around the wire bundle.

 

Unfortunately my ground doesn’t give me enough slack to route all the way back there like in that video, anyone have another solution for putting on the fuse box without cutting the wire lol

 

I took a small triangled file and just filed down a little spot on the box itself and the cover so it wouldn't pinch. Multiple car washes, heavy rains and no issues at all.
