Yes. A 100 Proof, minimum 4 year old Bourbon from a Bonded warehouse for $15 and $23? That's a hard one to beat.

Agreed completely! That and Mellow Corn are my favorite cheapies. I almost always have a handle on EW BiB on hand. Tasty enough that I can sit and sip it neat while being cheap enough that I don't care if anyone drowns it in coke. I use it for my poor man's whiskey sours.

I love me some EW white label. I have yet to try mellow corn, need to add that to the list!

My local shop started carrying OGD114, so I don't have to travel all the way to total wine to pick it up. It's replaced my EW bottled in bond as my cheap go-to, along with EW 1793 when I want something lighter.

I find myself leaning more toward high rye stuff this time of year, so WT101 has been a cheap staple that always stays on hand.

I'm a big fan of the Dickel Bottled In Bond. Unfortunately, it was recently recognized as a whiskey of the year and will probably go the route of McKenna...

I haven't tried the Mellow Corn yet either. I'll keep an eye out for it.

A good cheapie sometimes can be hard to find. My favorite Bourbons for let's say daily sippin, usually run in the $35 to $45 a bottle range.
    4 Roses Single Barrel
    Henry McKenna BIB
    1792 BIB or SB
    Eagle Rare

Now I don't know about you guys but I can easily have 4-5 pours over a 5-6 hour period in the evening after a hard days work.
That means about 2-3 750 ML's a week. (Just being honest here). Or easily $100-$120 a week or $400-$500 a month on booze.
Now can I afford it? Yes. But I choose not to. So finding a good sub $20 a bottle for me is a good thing.

I used to drink more than I do now so I know what you mean. Especially when I was trying all sorts of different bottles to settle down on what I like most.

I'm down to 2 pours now 3-4 weekdays, then 3-4 pours on Friday/Saturday. I try to take at least one day off completely now. Health issues run in my family, so I'm trying to keep my liver on the up and up.

I totally understand. I need to cut back but it's hard after a stressful day at work. I do take a medication that requires blood work every 6 months. My liver numbers always come back normal. But I still could use couple less pours I'm sure.

It's tempting not to drink more... especially when it's all so tasty!

I'll go through streaks of having pours or not. Completely depends on the week. I could have a pour or two every night of the week, or none at all for the whole week. Totally variant. I try and drink the easier stuff to find or stuff I have multiples of more than the few rare-ish bottles I have. I've also been trying to keep my purchases under ~$50 unless it's something really special or something I've been looking for, for a good while.

If I'm doing nightly pours, it's usually Henry McKenna BiB, Basil Hayden, Michters American, or something in that wheel house.

If my lady friend is drinking with me, she will almost guaranteed have Michters American so I'll break something else out to treat myself

I've been wanting to try the Nikka Coffee Malt for some time but never picked up a bottle as I have too many unopened bottles. I figured I'd get to it eventually as it has always been readily available. Until the last few months. I see the grain but the malt has dissapeared. I figure it must have won some award and is now scarce (at reasonable prices).

I found one on-line while just perusing that even with the delivery charge was still cheaper than TW or BevMo. I saw the Nikka Taketsura malt and that looked intriguing, so what the hell. $13 shipping charge (FedEx ground that took 2 days) seems like a bargain compared to what other on-line retailers charge. So much for downsizing...

Plowed out a coworker during the storm yesterday because their regular plow guy had broken down. Told them not to worry about paying me anything for it because it wasn't too far out of my way and I already had the plow on the nose of the truck.

So instead she walked in this morning and put this on my desk :bananadance:

That one was sadly a miss for me. when it came out I thought it was gonna be good so I grabbed like 4 or 5 bottles before the hype. Just didn't do it for me. Made good whiskey sours. I ended up killing them quick in mixed drinks and now they are all the rage :D should've held on to a couple to hook people up but I still see them occasionally on the shelf here.

Hell, I'd volunteer more often if I got that sort of payout from everybody, lol.

Probably. Don't drink and plow, boys & girls.

But, if you can plow for drinks...Do so.

Of course, between the plow and the truck it's probably the most expensive bottle of booze I'll have ever had
