And check the torque value spec. It is quite low, to allow some angular movement in that mount. The rubber should not be squished by over tightening the top nut.

You can also compress by hand. Once you get over the initial resistance it isn't too bad. I did and I'm far from beastly

mine looks about like that, from memory.

I think the torque spec seems silly low, like 15lbs?

Oh...I’m way above that. I used an open end wrench because I couldn’t get the socket on there with the torque wrench between the bed and the nut. I used a bit of strength to get that but down to that many threads...hope it’s not too much.

Would that make the rear feel stiff if it was?

I have no idea, i'm well above 15 as well...haha. I don't imagine it would make it too stiff, the rubber bushing shouldn't be dictating ride characteristics (IMHO)

I'll step out to my truck and see what it looks like

Maybe some of the more experienced will weigh in. There was no directions when installing the shocks and when I called ADS they really didn’t seem to know. I mentioned 50-70ft lbs and the guy was like “that sounds about right”...lol

I mean, it can't be doing any harm. Think about how much weight is on the bushing under the shock mount.

Granted, the full weight of the truck is carried by the springs but the shocks do experience a fraction

I dunno, just my non-engineer mind, i really have no idea

I’m sure it’s been asked and answered but do front coil overs come at stock height or “leveled?”

    Im hoping stock height.

I put mine on like they were shipped to me and got 1.5'' of lift. I don't think they come at stock height but how much lift you get is going to depend on a lot of different things like spring weight and how much weight you have on your truck.

Are there any videos on rebuilding these shocks specifically. I've seen videos for King but not ADS. A video would be really helpful for me if anyone wants to make one.

You could decrease preload and probably get to stock height. Its just not how they were shipped to me.

I'm looking to replace the lower heims on my 1st gen coilovers. Does anyone know what the correct size heim is? ADS offers a few different sizes on their website.

I’ve never seen these washers and bearings for installing coils to help adjust ride height when on the vehicle. Does anyone know if these are readily available and a good idea?

Mine came with stainless bearings, but I don't think they're needed. The Teflon liner fails long before anything else.

Curious if any 2nd/3rd gen owners have the ADS "Stage 1" and if they have any prior experience with competitor kits to compare and contrast their experiences as well their thoughts on Daily Driving Handling and Off Road Performance.

I'm looking at the Bilstein 6112/5160 system but I'm wondering if the bump up to ADS Stage 1 would be worth the cost, especially since it'll allow me to keep my business in-state.

My priorities are good daily driving manners with improved off road performance and comfort at least in some areas. I don't really want to modify the suspension mounting at all aside from *maybe* a UCA for increased travel.

I do not desire to lift the truck more than an inch and a half.

Any thoughts or opinions are appreciated, but especially the experiences from Stage 1 owners.
