I am planning on installing a 3 inch lift and I want to run 285/70r17 Nittos with a 17x9 wheel that also has a -12 offset. Are any of you guys running a similar set up? I mainly want to know how much trimming I am going to have to do if any.

There are tons of threads on this, but you should have a CMC done. You'll probably have to trim some plastic too.

I just put 285/75/17 and honestly not sure why people say you need to regear. It drives identical to the 265/75/16 e load tires i had.... I had to do a cmc and plastic trimming. Still rubs in reverse a bit full lock

I'm running the exact same set up. You may not need to cut IF you're just a mall crawler and you're running a 3" lift. It will rub under compression. I am only running about a ~2.25" lift. I flattened the pinch welds, cut part of the plastic trim and did a minor cut on the cab mount. I also tossed the stock mud flaps and custom mounted rekgen mudflaps. I will be doing a big CMC in the future.

That front bumper makes the tires look bigger and badass.

(No different than 3 for clearance). Will do CMC this spring to solve off-road while turning and dipping rub. Rest was melt away wheel well stuff. For pavement no issues as I have a good set of UCAs and fabulous shocks.

    Tacomaworld “Rubbing in a nutshell”:

    -TW Member type A:

“I’ve got 265/70/17 and it rubs all over the place. Anyone who says this size wouldn’t rub is a jackass. Added 4” of lift and still rubs”

    -TW Member type B:

“just fit 315/75/17. No rubbing whatsoever, even full stuff / full lock / in reverse. Stock SR suspension.”

Like @Gamebreaker81 said, no regear is needed but you will need to CMC and trim if you off-road, no doubt about that.

A little off topic but could you post a couple up close pictures of your mudflaps? I was thinking about getting some or even making some with kydex but it looked like there was a mounting point that disappeared with a cmc.
