TRD/ Magnuson 4.0 Supercharger Tips, Tricks, and Mods

Got my flex a lite fan. Looks nice. Nice set up looks easy to wire. Can’t wait to put it all together.

Side note. My buddy at work got all my exhaust studs outta one head. What a pain.

 

When do go with the new fan? You guys replace the current one or this is in addition?

 

Looking forward to your impressions on the fan. Really would like you to update us on it after install. Its small size made me go another route.

 

Trying to lighten up the load on motor as much as possible.

I won’t be able to notice power wise cu doing tons of stuff at the same time. But also never had an over heating problem before with stock radiator. Csf is going in with the fan

 

It was also only $270 with the controller. And will wire up a on switch also. Couldn’t pass it up.

 

Ive been driving around without a fan period. Definitely can tell a power difference. This spring I need to look into efan setups.

I thought the flex a lite fan shroud didn’t even come close to fully covering our stock radiator. Did they finally change designs? Or did you just only get the closest fan diameter for the stock shroud

 

That was my thoughts. Lots of surface area uncovered by the shroud in the install directions and just a single 12" fan. Maybe they changed the design.

 

No it’s still the same one. We will see. I know a lot of people say u get no gain and just keep the mechanical fan. But i usually go against what ever one says

 

oil pressure, fuel pressure to list a couple i value for data.

 

I’m running those two in the lotek pillar mount

 

wouldnt electrical load be a factor if using an e-fan? its taxing the alternator. load in voltage is drag. i at some point want an e-fan. im considering a lexus unit from ebay. an oem toyota for 1. second build quality for longevity.

 

definately on my to do list.

 

It definitely is a factor. Upgrading to a bigger alternator might be needed pending your current electrical set up and other aftermarket add ons

 

do you think the offroad model has an acceptable output? should i compare it to the alternator output of the potential donor lexus? so if the lexus of choice has a similar or less output on the alternator would i be in good shape?

 

It does if you're not running other high output options at the same time, such as a big air compressor, lots of offroad lights, winch etc. The flex a lite only draws ~18amps

 

i agree. i personally dont have high draw accessories. maybe the oem option may be my thing.

 

I found some posts at #15070. Ill check the PCV hose but I havnt noticed anything other than right at the snout in the pics previously posted. Tomorrow Ill report back what I find. Thanks for the suggestion (glad ya got that resi topped off with coolant haha!)

 

It’s fine....not nearly as obstructive as you’d think. It’s worth putting them there.

 

my only wonder is airbag function.

 

yah I am still second guessing that. Has to be a way to work around it.
