I knew something was about to go bonsai pretty soon. Hasn't sounded all that good the last year or closer to two.

    I need to do that.

Level ground work, or does it need to be a slight incline? Hate to have something go wrong and watch my rig roll off into a ditch or worse.

Level ground is fine, didn’t have to be much resistance. Just put the truck in neutral and reel her in

You need more resistance with synthetic line, on level ground a light foot on the brake is enough. And as long as you keep your truck straight with the winch line you don't even really need to watch it. The line will direct itself more or less as long as it's a straight pull.

How much line should I pull? Leave a few coils left where it locks into the drum?

Yeh, especially if synthetic. You need the bottom layer tight enough that it won't move when the top layer pushes down on it.

If you want a hand let me know, we can do both of ours. I'll be in Seattle today, or I've got a perfect driveway for it

That would be awesome. I have to run to Tacoma at 10, but will be back in town by say 2’ish. That work for you?

I don’t have anywhere around where I’m at to do it. :/

I've personally witnessed 2 light poles fall on their own accord. One was on 520 bridge on the north side of the west bound lane right as it connects back to land. It crossed over all the lanes except the far right on the eastbound side (the direction I was headed) about 30' in front of me. And another in Kirkland on 85th almost to Redmond while I was sitting at a red light. Both without warning, just toppled over. I have no faith in streetlights. But I and @PacNW_Taco got it all figured out

    I had the same concern.
When I did mine, I anchored it to my father's truck on a slight incline and guided it by hand while my father kept it straight. Worked good but it would be ideal to find a nice solo spot.

I did go up into the woods to find a tree, ran into more snow than I'd have liked totally alone without cell service, before I found a suitable spot. No biggie. Tacoma dudes helping Tacoma dudes is why we're here

Still a shit show up there and the snow isnt dry anymore. It’s all turned into that good old’ cascade concrete and ice. We made it almost to the top of Holler pass. When we turned around we ran into “super Jeep”. I would put money that they made it to lonesome. Apparently this Jeep won a show where they crossed Alaska. I think it was on history channel. They were nice guysFBAD1C68-7A4C-4A2B-9F51-15930B254202.jpg
