Tripping over a dollar to pick up a dime. Most of the time the dealer will match the price of a tire shop and their installation cost will be about the same. Even if it’s more at least there’s some accountability in situations like this. It’s akin to the guys that bring their rig to an instant oil change shop and then they forget to put oil back in or the wrong oil. Was it really worth it?

I don’t think the dealership is necessarily screwing you, they are just shooting you a price to remove all four wheels and tires, unmount tires, replace TPMS, re-mount and balance tires, and put back on the truck. Doesn’t sound like they are giving you a price for a simple fix with programming

The dealer is actually the cheapest place to get tires mounted and balanced around me

Update, it looks like a few of the sensors are broken. So it looks like the shop that installed them broke them, it was a new young tech who did my tires. So the burden should be on them to pay for the new sensors and the service to replace them...

You don’t need the TPMS. Ignore the light.

Hope you got it in writing, from them. That they are going to pony up, for dealer to correct their F-up.

That shouldn't even be an excuse now-a-days.
I'm pretty sure you have stripped out lug nuts too.

Likewise. But even if it’s more it’s definitely worth it to avoid situations like this.

I would be super pissed...but would never have left the tire shop parking lot with a light on.

Ya I wouldn't have accepted the truck back or paid the bill if the first shop didn't complete the work. It should be their job to get the tpms fixed after the tire swap, not yours. If that means they have to bring it to a dealer then so be it, that's on them.

Almost all new cars have tpms, it's been around over a decade. Any reputable tire shop can swap tires without damaging it, it's not like it's some new technology that only a dealer can work on.

Ask the dealer to call the tire shop explain the cost and have them pay the dealer directly. You shouldn't be involved in this.
