The port injectors are used to help with fast catalyst heating on cold start.

Again I am not saying that this is actually a problem. I am saying it could be a contributor to the rough idling on cold start on some trucks.

Agreed. I am never a fan of the added complexity, but it seems that tuning aside, Toyota has it worked out pretty well. We'll see how life is a few hundred K from now.

I am not sure if you were directing any of that toward me, but I do agree with you. I was a bit curious as to why the pump modes might affect the NA tuning, but you did a killer job making that clear.

I am quietly hopeful that those changes might get rid of the hot weather chatter that I have heard when running 87.

Kinda sorta related ... I just flashed 2.0 19770 91oct on my '17, after a few thousand miles on 19800 91oct. After a couple hundred miles (not enough to fully settle, but enough to draw some conclusions), a lot of the mid-throttle/mid-speed shifting weirdness is gone. The truck no longer shifts from 3->4-> immediately back to 3 when holding a constant medium pedal position (e.g., when accelerating onto an onramp or up a moderate grade). The missing 5->4 downshift above 75mph is still there, but it's not as bad because a given pedal position on 19770 seems to map to more throttle than it did on 19800, so the truck is less likely to lose speed on highway grades while staying in 5th gear. The throttle is actually perfect IMO when underway, though the first ~5% of pedal travel is a bit on-off. It's not that bad, honestly.

The overall experience gives credence to Mat's decision to tune 2.0 final by data rather than primarily by user feedback, since 19800 was the result of him "fixing" the 19770 tip-in (and inadvertently regressing other aspects of the 19770 tune as a result). Looking forward to trying the end-of-month update.

@OVTune, I just got my OFT and sent you my readout on Wednesday for my manual trans.. I’ve been counting down the days to get the 93 FOB loaded but if you’re thinking you’ll have 2.0 out at the end of the month, are you going to hold off sending out 1.05 tunes?

I always wondered why it defaulted to 4th when going into S mode, seems it should stay in whatever gear you currently are in, what is the factory setting, default to 4th?

Manual says towing should be limited to 1st-4th gears. That’s my guess on their logic.

Stock calibration always puts it in 4th no matter.your actual gear when you click it over to sequential

Would love to see on the Dyno the difference between 1.05 91 performance and 2.0 91 performance beta. My butt dyno tell me the 1.05 is putting down more power. Seems to me the beta is more about refinement and overall driveabilitly over getting everything he can out of the engine. Once the snow and ice goes away I'm planning on going back to 1.05 91 performance unless 2.0 final improves the highway driving.

Its pretty cool we have choices! I really dig that!

I can only speak to the 4.88 tunes and for me, the 2.0 0944 4.88 87 performance 04b04 tune is perfect. Ive been running it now for thousands of miles in all conditions and its been the best one for my driving style and heavy armored truck

This is my 2nd vehicle with push button start and both would not allow you to use the lock button to lock the doors while car/truck is running. You have to use the key. Silly but common in my experience.

EDIT: Sorry Burmapeak i quoted the wrong post.

Now that I’ve tried the 1.05 87oct perf and 2.0 87oct for a while, I prefer 2.0 on the highway. Better shifting manners. 1.05 seemed to have trouble keeping speed on hilly roads and mountain roads. 2.0 seems smoother and intuitive. City street driving, I liked 1.05 as it was peppier in stop and go traffic. After hearing about some 2019 trucks having issues on 1.05,I quit using it.

Thanks, I'll look that up and see what he had to say.
Seems like a conflict to me if he tuned from one base and you change one of the variables...

If you pair it with our tune the throttle may be so touchy it isn't controllable.

I had Sprint Booster which is the equivalent to Pedal Commander, and this is exactly what it did. Pulled it out and sold it right away. Along with Shift Sense Pro which was a bit of help too until the tune.
