Sure did. However sodium is usually the one that ends up being an environmental issue for most principalities. I responded because I started the potassium thought. It’s what I use so I don’t have to be concerned what faucet I use to water our plants. But again, that’s coming from a place that doesn’t ban either.

Copper from a company called color copper who after over 10 years went out of building in December because it seemed someone completely copied everything they were doing or the supplier fucked them because now a new company called total copper appeared using the same stuff and pictures.

We mostly do some kind of sand mix. Not sure if they add salt or not. Most use salt on driveways and what not.

No. The area were talking about basically has the climate of Spain all year. But you are right about road salt in general.

Next up, is it ok to pour used oil into your gutter?

There is a huge blind spot on waste in general, right?

Unwise tribes would shit in their own rivers. Still do in parts. Our ape like mentalities have long thought that when something disappears under water, it stops existing. Out of sight, out of mind, right?
Where does milk come from? The fridge, duh.

    Electricity? The wall. Easy peasy.

Drink of water? The faucet. Yay.

And those are things we actively demand daily. We want them.

Does everyone get up in the morning and turn on their wastewater system before they take a shit?

Do we look at the weather and say "looks like rain, better turn on the flood control, honey!"

People bitch about taxes and fees that are keeping them alive and safe a trouble free.

$1000 for an iPhone every other year, no problem!

3.25% rate increase once every few years to the city public works service so it can struggle to maintain or replace millions or billions dollars worth of infrastructure past its 50-year design life, which is already way under capacity for the population growth in it service area, which may have already expanded?
    Fucking socialism! Assholes!

Jesus Christ, Dick, settle the fuck down! If you want to keep your sewer fees down, just stop pouring butter, olive oil, cheese, and bacon grease down your kitchen sink and don't plant those willows next to the street!

Some good points in this thread recently though. We are actually on the far side of the spectrum here. I’ve lived all over before retiring and most major cities have solar street lights and things of that nature. Here big oil, coal and ranching seems to run a lot of the decisions. A gravel pit just recently won a bid to build right next to a really cool aquaphonics place. People seemed generally confused about why anyone had an issue with it. I think there is def a happy medium with the left and right when it comes to being environmentally conscious. We could certainly take a few lessons from other states.

Def some food for thought in the last few pages.

We have two wells but those are underground, the salt is on the surface... duh.
    :anonymous:

Wait, doesn’t my well casing protect it from bad ground stuff. I mean it all gets filtered threw the earth right? Salt is from the earth, it couldn’t possibly be bad...

Gasland is actually a great documentary that shows how sensitive the ground water can be.

But that's the thing. It is not left and right. It is not black and white. It's about living in a civilized first world society without shitting in our own beds. It's about CIVIL awareness and CIVIL responsibility. Our awareness and science has grown to expand our knowledge beyond our backyards and beyond what our eyes can witness in a few moments before another text goes BING!

People seem to be more interested in casting stones at each other rather than using them to build foundations of understanding together.

Same with what I was trying say. So much more could be done but it’s so divided no one is willing to consider the other side.

I have a leaking toilet seal that caused a black ring of oxidation on the wood laminate floor. Shut off is completely corroded so I just replaced the copper line leading in with pex. Now all I need to do is pull the toilet and replace the wax ring, and a couple of boards( fingers crossed).

Rewind to last weekend. Cleaned and refilled the soda ash and softener tanks. Cycled the system and heard dripping at the water heater. It was shot, only 3 years old. Replaced the heater. The next day a copper coupling took a dump in the kitchen, luckily my wife was there and by some miracle she knew to shut off hot water at the heater. Water guy came out and checked pH and hardness said everything was good. Must be old copper thats been wearing for years. Now I'm in the process of replacing the last of the copper pipes. I've had 3 other pipes leak on me in the last 3 years.

.... sorry for opening the water softener can of worms.

With that said it seems like a bunch of total bs to me.
