Would love the kit but I have an automatic. Manual owners will have more fun.

Can't remember 100% because I sold ms3 in 2016 but I believe DI is the primary. I could be wrong.

    Couple questions.

What psi/power output to the wheels is possible with the base kit without upgrading the fuel system?

What needs to be done to increase the boost on base kit over 6 psi? Electronic wastegate control through tunes or addition of hard parts?

Correct me if I said anything dumb, but I think I understand the basics.

Also, what is the reason for the boost tapering off as rpms increase on the base kit? Limited by turbo size?

Can you show pulls of the base and powermax on the street/pavement? I likely don’t need Powermax levels, but really like the idea of stock-ish bolt ons without fueling changes.

That’s as far as I got with my Golf R

    @OVTune,

Any news or data on your towing experience? Recently you posted on going to tow with the TT kit. I’m guessing you were going to get qualitative experience and quantitative data on temps and gear performance.

That, along with some more driving tests are still planned. The fuel pump set back took time out of how I planned this testing to go. So, that is all still going to be tested, but after we get a set back from our manufacturer.

Appreciate it. Tune alone is fine for my DD taco. But a bit Mo Powuh is needed for any distance towing.

This is normal on any turbo engine. If you use only the wastegates to control boost there will be taper. To stop tapering you use a boost controller

Doesn’t have to be a manual to enjoy extra power especially in this truck. Coming from somebody whose ever only owned Manuals other than my two tacos

So what is needed to increase peak boost over 6 psi on the base kit? A boost controller?

What power numbers did you see before temps got unmanageable/ fuel ran out?

    Yes a boost controller.

I only dyno tested the base kit on 6psi. Because that is what we are advertising the kit with. I had no plans of testing the limits of the base kit, because we have a bolt on bigger turbo option.

Yeah, I get that. I thought you mentioned running it up to a higher boost, though. Bigger kit is probably overkill for some of us, or out of the price range for some.

I'm sure some of us are considering what the base kit is capable of before making the choice to go with the larger kit. I understand you don't want to advertise or guarantee a certain number because all circumstances considered it could vary a bit. A range would be nice to know pre-purchase.

As far as turning up the boost on either kit, will a custom tune be provided or how will that go?

    Thanks.

Yes I ran and tested 10psi peak on the street.
Important to understand peak. That means 10psi at very low rpm but the same taper as 6. The stock fuel system will NOT handle 10psi with no boost taper.

When you factor the price difference between the two, a lot of that is the fuel system upgrades.
Both the base kit and the powermax use the same intercooler piping, downpipes, etc.
The powermax kit does come with some more robust turbo lines.

If you factor a base kit + all fuel system upgrades needed to consistently run higher boost you're not that far off of the powermax kit.
