First taco but the wife and I have had a Camry and Highlander before. I knew I wanted a truck for some time, have friends with tacos and the fact that my other Toyota’s ran forever made it an EASY choice.

@Marek71 @tarbal255 Mine was a plastic rattling sound, mainly when it was cold out. It was annoying the hell out of me for about a year. I took the passenger side tweeter cover off to see what was going on and some small piece of plastic fell down. That annoying as hell rattling sound hasn’t happened since o_O

First and first. Still have my first new vehicle which is a modded 98 Ranger. Couldn't afford a Taco. 1000's in my Tacoma so far. Currently building another 3rd gen 1/9 scale Minime...

First Tacoma, first vehicle bought new. My first truck was a '91 diesel F250 that I bought for $1700, used it like a rented mule, and sold five years later for $2500. Joined the 7.3 IDI cult, did as much of my own work on it as my small hands and modest tool set allowed, brewed my own biodiesel for it, but finally had to let it go when it kept cutting out at highway speeds, with no power brakes or steering (sold with full disclosure, people love those trucks). Wife's Hybrid RAV4 proved the Toyota rep legit, always favored the look of Tacos, and can't express in words how much I love having a vehicle that just works. Low annual mileage, so I hope to grow old with it.

Im likely in this camp as well. I miss my 14 Silverado LTZ I traded in on the Tacoma. I will entertain the idea of the next generation Tundra though, IF Toyota can bring up the interior feel to something not 10 years behind the curve.

always wanted an Eagle Talon. 4wd, 16 valve, 4 cylinder, turbcharged, intercooled with 200 horsepower! It was hot car in the day, never got one though. I finally am scratching that itch with a 2008 911 turbo, love it

Wouldn't say it's that bad. Is it minimalist and lacking a few things that other manufacturers have as standard? Yes. Is it still good? Absolutely. I've been in other cars/trucks where I can just see all of the extra crap breaking or being useless most of the time. Air conditioned seats would be nice though

Yeah I just wasn’t impressed. Picked it up Oct 2015, and just had several issues that left a sour taste in my mouth. My biggest complaint is it is gutless. I’ll probably also get back into another GM full size. I’d consider a 4Runner, but who knows. The truck will be paid off soon so I’m going to enjoy no payments for at least a year.

Agree on gutless. Going up the slightest grade at 60mph the truck can't easily hold speed. Even withthe OVTune which helps, but at the end of the day Toyota really missed the mark. I like it for messing around on FS roads, but I wouldn't recomend a Tacoma to anybody based on a daily driven vehicle. Im sure it will be more dependable then many other makes, but vehicle enjoyment goes a lot further then that for me.

I am curious about this. I know it is a known issue, but at least mine has never had an issue getting itself moving or staying at speed. Going from Reno to South Lake it takes the mountains like a champ and accelerating to pass people is no issue while getting 19-20 mpg. As far as enjoyment goes, this thing accelerates if you want it to and put your foot into it.

1st Tacoma but 4th Toyota having come from 4Runners. I must say I have missed the 4Runner, but the truck is really starting to grow on me.4F1E086F-CAA5-4D3E-881E-2CE840DF72C3.jpg 93003293-50BC-4C30-8ADC-E8836BFE184A.jpg

First Tacoma. Previously owned 2 FJ40s.

Always drove full size trucks, Chevy and Ford.

Even with the issues that I have had, this is the best truck I’ve ever owned.

Now I have had big block Chevy trucks get better fuel economy and one 460 Ford that matched it. I can’t understand that part.

Still, best truck I’ve ever owned.
