Makes sense. Just trying to make sure I understand the options.

So can you safely run up to 10 psi on the base kit before needing to upgrade the fuel system?

I'm not sure I understand what the tuning options are in these scenerios of increasing boost. One size fits all maps or custom maps per data received from customer?

What’s the difference wheel hp between stock 17 3.5 Taco auto and manual? These turbo kits been tested on auto manual or both?

Just saw your edit about taper @OVTune. Not super worried about the boost taper, just overall wanting to get a feel for low end/peak torque with base kit and boost turned up. And whether or not it's safe and reliable on stock fueling.

So, hopefully this clears it up.

Light blue first line = base kit tested
light blue second line = base kit capable without fuel system upgrades
dark blue line = base kit safe limit
Orange line = Powermax kit tested
Red Line = Powermax kit safe limit (estimated. that will be tested)

the next question is going to be "well why not sell the base kit on the 10psi plot?"
Because it requires a boost controller

    Cool, thank you.

So the second light blue line is base kit with a boost contoller, stock fuel system?

Dark blue is base kit with boost controller and upgraded fuel system?

So there is no option for increasing boost pressure with waste gate springs?

For folks that aren’t very mechanically intuitive when it comes to boosting an engine, like myself, a simple side by side comparison of hp and tq numbers of stock vs base kit and stock vs max kit gains would be very inticing. Although the install could be quite simple, understanding the gains and seeing true numbers of this truck stock has 200 rwhp now that we’ve added the twin turbo base kit it’s showing 300 rwhp along with over 100 lbs of tq. Just for example anyway....

Anyway be quite interesting one day to see all the actual kits installed on trucks around the world and users inputs on each of the individual trucks.

I’m sure when it’s ready OV will post dyno graphs of all combinations and boost levels. I don’t see why you wouldn’t. I’m actually going to dyno my truck at a local shop PRE and POST twins, to show my own accurate and controlled gain.

I’ll likely do the same depending on how much a shop charges. If it’s reasonable sure. If not I’ll use the butt dyno for mine :)

I for one like the base kit approach - when the time comes for me that is (post warranty). Keep it simple, reliable, and up the power where it needs it for general use and towing.

People just don't know how big of a difference a little bit of boost is for helping this truck move.

Yes once all the data is done we will have it all posted in a big blog post.

What's your input on boost and/or gearing for those of us with bigger tires... I recently jumped up to 285/70r17s so now I'm looking at my options

What does your test truck have for wheels/gearing?

Custom sliders (1.75" HREW tube w/ 3/16" base plates). Custom front bumper and high clearance rear bumper (1/4" steel plate, 1.75" tube.) Apex 5500 winch w/synthetic line (36lbs) and required accessories for an underpowered winch (snatch blocks and extra line.) Tekonsha P3 brake controller, remote start, any-time-backup camera w/ front facing camera, Leer 100R shell (w/e-track single slot tie-down mounts for removable Yakima EasyTop.) Anytime rear with front facing camera. Billet front seat risers. Viair 88p. 265/75r16 Goodyear Ultra-terrain tires.
I'll take a SWAG and say they'll dyno within 5% of each other (IF the manual transmission can handle the torque.)

I’ve heard an automatic transmission will cost you near 30%
