Yup, exactly. I cut a Tundra TRD Pro grille like so and then custom fit it into the stock surround. I secured it via a couple set screws and zip ties... If I get around to removing the grille again I'll take additional fitment pics.

You did an amazing job, very impressed...that’s the way the 05-11 “Pro” grille should have been designed.

I like the way the lettering is larger than the ones that you just buy. I'd like to cut up a 3rd gen and try to do the same thing. The 2nd gen (2005-2011) ones seem to have the smallest bar across with lettering. The 3rd gen it's larger, but still smaller than the Tundra (it seems anyway). I like the symmetry of the 3rd gen version as it drops the "bump" down equally, but I like the size of the Tundra bar and lettering. For the record, I haven't checked tape on any of those, but I'm going strictly off the visual inspection.

Yes, 3rd gen pro grille looks great as I just did this mod. Was able to locally source a non-oem version that was damaged so got it cheap.

Man, that looks awesome. Did you just cut your grill and insert that center bar and mesh?

Funny, I just got an ebay grille that looks a lot like the one from the OP. Did a little work with some rattle-cans and put it on yesterday. Today my two sets of weather-strip get here, so I can figure out which one will work best on it.

    As received

    Self-etching primer

    First two coats of bed-coat

The difference is underneath the grille and small portion of headlight. I had to cut the bumper there and then put a filler piece that drops down.

Installed mine looks good. Still fighting with the rubber liner. Didn’t try to bond the included silicone rubber seal becuase i have no faith in any adhesive I have. Tried the tape backed door sealer product the seller recommended but it just looks all malformed when the hood is down.

also replaced the outer plastic button snaps with a bolt and nut which helped better align the grill with the headlamps.

Any suggestions on replacing the seal?
