What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

You'll need a business license or broker to bid on that 1997. Anyone go that route? I'm looking at picking up a spare parts rig at some point but just looking at no license required listings.

Also looks like that 1997 has some rust...

 

Auto Brokers are dime a dozen $100 they'll bid on it for you

i coulda gotten you the ECU from the 97 v6 reg cab i found in my town salvage lot last summer!

i even offered if you needed something from it

CVs back in and @RobertsT4R is filling the diff.

 

Replaced the garbage Tcase drain/fill plugs with new ones from Trail Toyz.

And re-filled the Tcase... @RobertsT4R re-filling rear diff.

I have that exact same oil catching container

Works great for our trucks, I learned the hard way not to use a smaller one

 

Took the bed off to weld up some cracks that happened from some poor/but fun driving decisions...

Also finally gave up on the 700lb coils and valving them to make em work. I swapped in some 14” 650s on friday...my icons are slowly becoming foxes.

 

Nice. I've never minded the T-case bolts, but the 10mm hex key sucks for the front diff drain. I just replaced that yesterday with this nice "Lexus" one. that has a 14mm head.

I don't really mind the allen ones on the front diff. I've always found that if I clean them out well and then tap the allen in with a hammer, I don't have a problem. The Tcase drain and fill plugs are just so low profile it seems like the socket doesn't want to get a good bite on them... they also seem like they are made out of soft pot metal.

 

Do both the transmission and engine oil bolt plugs both have magnets as part of the bolt? Or just the engine

You mean stock? The trans plug on my A340E (original) trans and my A340F (current) trans had magnets in the pan. I don't think they had magnets on the plug.
