So I pretty much decided to abandon Entune in my 19 Sport and go for the Kenwood DMX906S, with the Maestro kit. I am pretty sure I know the answer, but has anyone who has installed a new headunit w/o GPS, confirm whether or not the dash display setting with the street name and the speed limit still works?

This is something I can live without, but I really do like this feature. I was wondering it there was a way that I could keep the GPS unit installed for this, any ideas??

    Thanks!

I assume you're talking about the center display. The answer is no. It won't function like the Entune did for navigation.

If you go to the maestro website and input make model of vehicle and your radio choice it will tell you what will work. When I loaded a 2017 tacoma without JBL and the the radio you listed it says this about secondary display:

    Secondary Vehicle Display (If equipped)
    Audio Information Display
    Hands Free Info Display
    Navigation Info Display

I just bought this exact radio and the Maestro kit to go with it. Will be installing it sometime early next week, probably Tuesday, and can answer definitively then, but I don't expect any of the dash display that's tied to radio or gps to work.

Maestro just released a new version of the unit. If nothing has changed, then that listing is BS. I know for a fact. I had a Pioneer headunit in my truck until recently. Hands free will always say "incoming call" no matter how the call originated. Phone book and all other functions were handled on the headunit. Audio information depended on the source. I don't recall this fully, but sat radio would display the station only, Bluetooth sources would display artist and song. And there was zero navigation information from a non-navigation headunit. Not even while using Android Auto. For a navigation headunit I have no idea.

Maybe we could get MESO to create a custom head unit for the third gen. They would make a fortune.

That would be awesome! Look forward to hearing how the install goes, and how you like it overall.

I think I am willing to make that sacrifice, for wireless carplay and multi camera functions.

Ended up doing install this morning. Other than needing to shim the surround a bit to get it to look right and being pretty sure I forgot to plug in the mic it's all done. Surprisingly audio information does show in fact on the instrument cluster, tested with terrestrial radio and Android Auto. GPS information however does not show up.

I priced everything I needed individually and ended up buying from Amazon and Newegg.

Crutchfield dropped the price by 100, same as Amazon now. Just ordered, can't wait!

I did the same. The new functionality (wireless CarPlay) was worth the change to me, but limited interoperability with dash display...
