I have a '17 off road and my truck constantly jumps gears near 80 mph. Thing is the speed limit is 80 mph on the highway here. I drive it often and getting sick and tired of driving 50 to 70 miles with my engine constantly at 32 to 3400 rpm. What can I do to remedy this and get my truck to cruise in 5th or 6th at 80 to 85 mph I'm about ready to pull my hair out

    You can try ECT mode.

    You can try OV tune.

    You can try a standard.

Plenty of info on the topic here, but here's an idea...

6th is just too damn tall. 80mph at 2000rpm isn't cutting it. At that speed you need more power to push through the air. Stick it in 5th and see if that helps.

Or get a manual. 80mph in 6th I'm at 2750rpm, but I've got plenty of power.

Otherwise you'll have to shiftsense or whatever.

The dealer reflashed my computer, did not help anything. It’s pointless to have fifth and sixth gears that are only used downhill.

This truck likes to be at higher rpms. 3k rpm is where you get usable power.

Also try shifting into S mode set at 5.

Bilsteins 5100s on the top setting, 4runner Gray TRD Pro Sema wheels, 285/70/17 Toyo AT3s, Sumo Bump stops, TRD exhaust, ECGS Clamshell bushing, 1/4 shim for the lean and one inch rear block, OEM Pro grill and garnish OEM TRD Skid plate, TRD CAI, Demon Brackets, Rigid Industries Pro fog lights, OEM Trail Rails sidebars, Diode Dynamics LED SL1 high and low beam lights, OEM Roof racks, Clazzio leather heated seats, Remote Start, TRD Pro shift knob, tinted windows, Rockford Fosgate 4 channel amp for the headunit and sub and amp combo, OEM Puddle lights, OEM tailgate lock, OEM bed mat, LED interior lights, OEM blackout kit for letters, JLT catch can, upgraded 27F toyota True Start battery, Vleds led tail light kit with Pro tail lights, OEM Rave4 side mirrors with convex spotters, just to name a few mods.
I would get them to re-flash it. The new programing probably didn't take and the tech didn't confirm it. The TSB58 did well for me, always running Shell 93 and a Sprint Booster, TRD CAI and Pro exhaust. I looked at the OV tune but the way it runs and drives I'm happy.

Amen. I drove a 2017 OR automatic on my test drive. Immediately took it to the highway and realized no freaking way was this going to work.

Bought the stick 3 days later.

Shift sense pro 2 really helped my truck. I can actually use the cruise control now without constant the gear hunt

This V6 is designed to rev, and after 3500rpms the cam timing changes and it really wakes up!

Don't lug this engine, especially with the automatic in drive unless you want to keep e tranny shift, as it's designed to do.

ECT on in Drive or S manual mode and let it sing at 5000rpms!

5000 rpm's seems a little excessive for normal driving. Mine drives great between 2000-3000 with the ssp. No more gear hunting and gas mileage is still pretty good

If you're just holding it there, yeah probably. But as far as acceleration or passing, it's not awful
