Toyota revealed the Tacoma X-Runner "Ready to Race" high-performance SEMA project truck Tuesday at Pomona Raceway in Southern California, with a few welcome changes from what we first reported over the weekend.

Aimed at conquering the drag strip, the RTR melds the street performance X-Runner version of Toyota's midsize Tacoma pickup with the full-size Tundra's mighty 5.7-liter V-8. Then it ups the ante by bolting on Toyota Racing Development hardware, including a supercharger and intake kit. The end result is a 504-horsepower, 550 pounds-feet of torque hero truck that's expected to be piloted to quarter-mile times in the 11-second range.

The RTR doesn't just combine powerful hardware. It's also a combination of Toyota’s strong motorsports heritage and a passionate development team, said David Williams, Toyota Tacoma and Tundra marketing manager.

Hmmmm. So Toyota has been so busy dumping 10.7 engines into a damn pickup truck and that's why they haven't gotten off their a$$e$ to release an upgraded Supra. Or any sports car for that reason.

Everything under the Hood is

    Everything Outside is :puke:

They could have spiced up the Exterior to make it more appealing.

Kinda boring compared to all the other SEMA Tacomas Toyota put out.

If they added that Engine into the Yellow 2005 XR Sema X-Runner.

    You'll have a Complete BEAST!

What a waste of an amazing engine setup...at least make the damn thing 4wd so you can use the power and offer the engine to the rest of us who will actually buy it...such a shame :(

It's just a project truck to build hype. They aren't coming into production.

So Toyota wasted engineering time on this? :frusty:

Having a truck that can go 0-60 in under 4 seconds in a straight line, but that's about all it can do, doesn't interest me one bit. I know this isn't intended to be a production truck but still what a waste.

They spend time on this but we still don't have the updated 4.0 V6. Unbelievable! :annoyed:

Nah, this is mostly TRDs deal... They spend all day just fucking around and playing. If TRD actually built a trim for production it would be beast...
