Hi! I am 5 months and 9000 miles into ownership of my 2016 Taco I purchased with 53k on it. Its loaded with cool interior, sunroof, heated seats, rocking JBL & nav. I was 18 years in the auto industry, 15 years as a GM, almost all of it with Porsche and 18 glorious money filled months with Jag / Rover( because the service department made more per month then a Porsche store, should of never left, thats another story) . I am now semi retired and semi disabled. I enjoy cycling and due to balance lower extremity numbness ( 8 back surgeries, 7 levels of my spine fused) I ride a trike. I had a Porsche Macan with a rack that was a PIA on the hitch for my trike. After spending a weekend with a buddy whom runs a NJ Manheim Auction and is a Taco loyalist and his Taco, I was hooked. We tracked my truck down through the auction system and I purchased it and turned in my leased Macan. I simply can't get how well this Taco handles. Upon initial pre purchase inspection, this Taco has four new shinny Hitachi shocks all around, maybe why it rides and handles so good? It also had very recent brakes. I drive this thing like a Porsche around turns and I killed the Toyo street looking tires. December I put Firestone Destinations A/T on it as this Taco WILL get muddy!! I have painted the grill and hood scoop black with a cool plastic coat product, put red letters in TACOMA on the back and installed a shinny K & N intake kit. My buddy and ace technician unhooked my battery, then did a flash or something. All I know, when I pulled out of his garage, this thing RIPS and sounds great! I drive it like I stole it, get between 18.5 and 22.5 MPG ( while hwy driving at 80 plus!) . I want to add an intake flow spacer and exhaust next. Was thinking a chip, but don't know if I need it. Any suggestions on ringing out more performance is appreciated along with any off road drives in and around the NJ area. This truck will be my 15 year olds ride in two years and he helps me work on it. Now I want to take him off road! I have done the Porsche Winter Driving School, done many off road events, done really cool off road events with Rover. Now its Yota time! If ya read this far, thanks!!!

    Welcome!

First and foremost, I'll say you don't really need a chip. If you want the vehicle tuned, tons of folks roll with OV tunes as they pretty much have the monopoly on TacomaWorld. Also, save your money on Intake and throttle body spacers. They don't do anything at all for gains even when coupled with phenolic gaskets as the 2JR-FKS already has a resin plenum.

Check out the NJ B.S. Thread for local runs and to plug into the community!
