It was a sea of red and gold this morning as peeps were eating breakfast. One or two Green Bay fans walked in and a few people suggested they might spit in their food :D

i need some advise to get the breather line attached to my front diff housing. this is the 3rd (last?) issue i need to fix from gear/locker install.

1st: shop (bastards) nipped the inner cv boot on driver's side so it was leaking. replaced it with a Duralast axle (not impressed). i'm going to rebuild the OEM axle if i can ever get the bearings off. this is another story.
2nd: shop (bastards) shredded the 10mm hex on the front diff drain plug. i tried to jb weld a hex socket on there - total failure. paid a muffler shop $10 to tack it on. problem solved. oil was metallic colored and there was a fair bit of metal on the magnet after 1,500 miles. happy to have fresh oil in there.
3rd: breather tube came off front diff

i read some threads about 3rd gen issues with diff oil spouting out of the breather which is located in the engine bay. it appears the heat and pressure in the diff causes oil to go up and out the breather tube. this is likely to occur after filling with oil as oil level is normalized by purging excess oil out the breather. in my case the oil that would be cruising up and down the breather tube with hot/cold cycles is landing on the driveway because the breather tube was not attached by the shop.

here's the problem: i can't seem to get a hand or tool in there to attach the breather tube.

truck is on jacks. i feel like if it was on a lift it may be possible to reach up and around the diff housing to get a hand on the breather tube and attach. anyone able to confirm this? how do i get this bitch on?

Nuts. I think KC is the harder team to beat in the Super Bowl.

You know, after the niners win today.

quoting myself because finally figured this out.

needed to go at it from the front, not the back. i didn't even need to jack up the truck or remove the wheel. take the front skid plate off and i could reach the breather with some long articulating pliers.

looks like the shop may have cut the hose that connects the breather on the diff to the breather tube that goes up into the engine bay. it was about an inch short. of course it's 3/8" id rubber hose and i only have 1/4". off to the store to get 3 inches of rubber hose. i wonder if it's supposed to be clamped on there? seems like it should be.
