Heads spinning a bit from the reading I’ve done the last couple weeks, I need some help or a direction to go in.

Wife and I are about to pick up our kimbo camper and need to upgrade our suspension in the truck (2015 TRD Tacoma)

Brothers tell me to install air bags but I’d like to not worry about filling and checking them.....

The company owner runs 5100’s with Hellwig EZ level helper springs.

Would this be ok? Would I be better off doing a Dakar heavy duty set up with the 5100’s?

Or are my brothers right with the air set up?

    Am I missing anything else?

    Best,

    John.

ARE Z-series shell, ImMrYo mirror lift, always on fog-lights.
Its hard to say without knowing what you are wanting to do with it afterwards(mostly road/light off roading/heavy offroading), also what is the weight that you will be having on the rear end and what is your budget? The more information that you can provide, the better chance that someone will be able to help you out.

In your case I’d recommend air bags. Helper springs are a good option too when you want more payload without lifting.
If you want the truck lifted (especially when not towing) you could get the Dakar’s. 5100’s or any bigger shock would be beneficial, but not necessary.

We will be running this camper set up mostly on paved roads, some dirt roads here and there. The unit wet is around 1000 pounds. If we go with the air bags should we do helper springs too? I just want the vehicle to be safe.

Not looking for a lift unless I need it?

Yeah I’d just get helper springs.
    Cheapest, simplest option

Airbags all the way, don’t mess around with the helper springs. Although we did install a set of the Hellwigzs, they are nothing I would buy again and the thread sizing on the nuts they supply are a joke, garbage. The airbags just make for easy leveling and are not awful on the wallet.
We did throw in 5100’s just because.
    Go airbags.
