I’ve read through a bunch of threads and my head is spinning a little bit.
I would greatly appreciate some help. I’m bringing my truck in for an alignment tomorrow.
What do I need to tell the technician so that my front tires are as far forward as possible, away from the body/cab mounts?
I have stock UCAs, 2” of lift with 5100 and OME, with 285/70/17 tires.
My tires are not rubbing on the cab mount but I did have to trim a small amount on the rear plastic so far.
Thank you very much for your input.

Do you have aftermarket uca's? If so, then 3 to 5 on caster.
If not the best your gonna get is about 2.5 on caster.

Camber and toe OEM—-the factory numbers.

CASTER 3.5 +/- .5 is the start, more is better

you MIGHT get to 3 with some crafty adjusting..... new UCA’s would have been a good choice.

So tell them to start with caster as much positive as possible and then factory settings for everything else?

it is gonna be a trade off, since both lower bolts will adjust BOTH caster and camber, the ideal is OEM camber with as much caster as they can get.

let’s say OEM is 1.2 camber and OEM caster is 2.0, you lift threw it at .5 camber and 1.2 caster, you would need to adjust to 1.2 and then re sweep the steering to see how the caster is, then adjust again.

I also depends on the rack, some of the latest rack have all three (toe, caster, camber) as live measurements. The older racks only toe is a live reading. Toe is the LAST adjustment.

the older racks can get you an approximation on the screen, a proper alignment guy will sweep the steering every time the eccentric bolts get moved, seen guys sweep more than 50 times on modded vehicles.

did this help or confuse you?

(I was confused myself when I started doing alignments)

stock doesn't like adjustment over 2.5 from my understanding.. 4* of caster is the way to go if you are rockin big 33's/34" tires

I got my alignment finished earlier today. They put the caster at 1.5 and the other two were something around 0.3 or so. He told me that was as far as he could go on the caster before the camber or toe would have been too far out of spec.
In the end, it did move the tire forward. I think the caster was at about 0.0 before today. I can see that the tire clears away from the body mount even more now. I actually scrubbed a little on my front fender when I backed out of my driveway earlier, which I’m ok with. The front fender is way easier to trim.
