The double gasket trick is the most common on oil outs. The tech will remove the old filter after draining the oil and chuck it in the trash. Because he's done 14 oil changes that day, and he only makes $10 hour, he never looks at the filter to see if the gasket came off with the filter. He then attaches the new filter and "hand tightens" it to the old gasket thus making a .25" gasket that leaks, or even pours oil.

The "no oil in" trick is after he lowers the truck on the rack he walks over to "Bobby" who just got a new 3/8" snapon ratchet from the tool truck. They bullshit about the ratchet, a girlfriend, beer and what is for lunch. He walks back to the truck, slams the hood, pencil whips the inspection report and backs the bitch out. There is always some oil left in the pan, valve train, rod and mains, and cam gallery. The nasty noise made from a engine is almost always drowned out by AC/DC screaming on the tech's radio on his $99.99 craftsman tool box.

And there ya go. Brought to you by "One time at band camp"

Watching this thread... Good luck OP. From what I read form your posts, this is no the dealer and their doing. Since they did this, they need to correct it, but I am not sure what the best route is. Tough to say since I am not in your shoes, but I would probably look for a really good trade in from said dealer OR Make them replace your engine at no cost to you. Good luck

Online reviews, including opinions, are protected speech (1A) unless a factually false statement is made. Difference between "this dealership is full of crooks" and "they stole my watch (but not actually)".

Which is why I like to call them out on things like "your review could be sued for libel".

This is a great point and a good lesson to the OP. If you ever have a low oil light, pull over as soon as safe and practical and check the dipstick. Also check for signs of an oil leak. The smell would have notified you immediately anyway. If you have a low oil pressure light, pull over and shut off the motor ASAP. At that point damage is imminent.

Doesn't matter. I could sue you for not having a cute avatar like grindstone and it hurts my feelings. It wouldn't get very far (I'd hope).

You can sue for literally anything. I could sue you for posting on this board, you should probably not post on here because I may sue you now.

Took a look inside the service area of my local dealership years ago and saw 18-20 year olds changing oil for $89 and decided then to do it myself.

Agree, OP should escalate. Get outside opinions from actual mechanics.

To be deemed libelous you need to make false claims, maybe I missed where any claims other then facts were presented. I may have missed it.
