Hi lift on a stock gen 3

With all the plastic on the bumpers I don’t see any way to use a highlift Jack. I’m thinking of buying a lightweight aluminum floor jack to use instead what’s everybody else using?

Not much use for a high lift on a stock truck other than a manual winch. I'd way rather use a good floor jack than a hi-lift for working on a vehicle in my driveway. Just make sure you get one with the longest lift. My old harbor freight jack only works in a few locations and I still have to be careful where I put my jack stands or it won't keep the tires off the ground. I'm looking into getting longer of both.

I do keep a hi-lift in my truck. I've got sliders and accoutrements to use it as a winch. I really use it more for outside chores and I used it once to change a trailer tire. Never used it on my truck though.

 

Damn if that ain't the jack I need. The price is a bit much though.

I just got a welder, I have some 2x4 steel tubing.... I'm starting to wonder why I just don't buy another regular floor jack and weld an extension on it for the prices being asked.

I could even get a smaller lighter one to add the height too. It would be way easier to push around and take up less floor space.

That CO2 Jack from pro eagle is such a rad design. Brilliant actually.

I'm not saying I'd buy it. But it's still bad ass.

Yep I think a floor jack would beat a bottle jack. If it’s lightweight I could try and wrestle it with the handle.
I have yet to stick the truck but have been practicing with the motor home.

 

You can also buy a pro eagle head from SDHQ and retrofit it to a harbor freight jack so you can use the accessories! I documented it in my build thread below. Pro Eagle jacks are def better quality, but a lot of the desert race teams I am around all rock the HF stuff just fine.

 

What liability? I'm the one that is going to build it and use it. I'm pretty comfortable that I can make this work.... Or I will be before I do it.

 

Check the extended height. I've got the basic steel floor jack and while it works, it just barely does. I don't remember the size, but it's over 2 tons, it might be 3 tons and it looks like they don't sell it anymore.... they probably just rebranded it.

Sweet! I don't need mine for offroad. I just need something easier to work with at home.

 

I have aheavy steel floor jack but I want the light weight aluminum one for the truck. If it comes up short I can weld a spacer on to make up the difference

 

Why a floor jack instead of a bottle jack? Just wondering. If portability it the concern

 

I was just going to take the head off, weld on some big heavy steel and call it good..... But Gunshot's post has me reconsidering.
