Most likely incorrect installation of the new seal

 

I got a new seal and did not sit it all the way left 2mm and now it's all good

 

How're these lockers holding up a couple years down the road? Anyone run into any issues after the install?

 

Not first gens but @Sub-Zero and @KanPanic seem to love their front lockers

 

So far so good... I made a mistake and left the wires long inside the dif. Had to get a new electro magnet but now works like a charm

 

No issues at all. Its now wired to my switchpro and works flawlessly.

 

I ran them in my truck till I sold it last August and everything was fine.

I don’t know where my truck is anymore but I’d guess they’re still working. There’s not much to go wrong.

 

So far mine been good every time I used it, almost 2 years and no issue

 

No issues here going on 1.5 years with 8" front e locker

 

I've seen them before but never seen anyone actually have one, until I found this thread (new to TW).

It looks like they send you a complete gear set. The front and rear gear ratios should match, so does the gear ratio match the factory gears?

 

You can order different gears if you have a place install it, or reuse the factory ones If you do it yourself.

 

The only issue I’ve had in 2 years was a couple times a pin backed out of the deutsch connector for the rear diff so it wasn’t getting power. I replaced the deutsch connectors front and rear with plain old spade connectors and haven’t had any problems since.

 

Howd you get the wiring harness behind the rotary switch? Did you have to find one or make one? I've never made a wiring harness myself. Using spade connectors directly on the pins of the switch seems pretty sketchy to me...

What are you guys using for a front locker switch?

I was thinking of maybe an OEM rear locker switch, in order to fill the spot where the clutch cancel switch normally goes.

Ordered a Harrop front locker last week.

 

@Kwikvette, it should come with the correct rocker switch, mine did. My truck’s a non-TRD regular cab so it had a switch blank where you’d find the rear locker switch on a TRD truck. For my rear locker I just removed the switch blank and used that location. I made a template of the opening and cut another hole next to it for the front locker.

I do not give a goddamn about having dash lights for the lockers when the Harrops already include clearly labeled, brightly illuminated switches. Using the supplied rocker switches instead of an FZJ80 dial also allows you to operate the front and rear lockers independently.

 

That's a clean setup.

See the 4R I'm getting (or even the Tacoma I have currently) both have a factory rear locker.

I wanted the front switch to look as factory as possible since I don't want to use the switch Harrop includes.

That 80 series dial though looks badass; wonder if there's a wiring diagram available to hook it up to the factory rear and aftermarket front...

 

I bet you could modify an RR DIFF LOCK switch to look like an FR DIFF LOCK switch, then it would look more uniform than an OEM switch next to an aftermarket switch.

 

Yeah there is a way to run that Toyota 80 series rotary switch. A lot of the Cruiser guys use those when they add lockers to their 100 series.
