Thanks! I'll definitely look into those options.

Do the aftermarket shops usually allow the customer to bring in their own parts (Ordered off the internet) to get it installed by the shop?

lifts are easy.. can totally diy, or ask, be cool, and bring food, many would be willing to help. As far as tires, costco or even Amazon

I'm trying to get a 4-5 inch lift. This will be for a 2wd (budget didn't allow for a 4wd) toyota tacoma. Around how much would it cost for labor and the lift kit?

Budget didn’t allow for 4x4 but you have funds for a lift? LOL.

Can do spindle lift for cheap but rims and tires are what’s expensive. Could’ve put that money into a 4X4 honestly.

At the time, budget didn't allow for 4x4 lol. I wish I could just convert it to 4x4 now that I have money though... But, seeing that it would be a lot of work doing so, I thought a lift would suffice.

Thanks! I'll look into the spindle lift right now. Budget right now would be around 4k-6k.

You’re better off selling or trading in your 2wd, for a 4x4 and then modifying it to your liking. Don’t do what I did by buying a Prerunner, modding it, and then being unsatisfied because of 2wd limitations. Sold the Prerunner and got a used 4x4. LOL.

Do spindle for sure if you decide on keeping the prerunner

there is actually a couple of us that could also speak from experience. My 2x had sliders, lift, front bumper, camper, roof rack.. even a rear air locker. Ended up, selling, buying a 4R, now back again in a 4x Tacoma, and needing to rebuild.

I have a quick question about suspension.

Do some rear shocks (bilstein 5160) lift the car 0-1.5" or do they compensate for an already lifted rear of 0-1.5"?

Basically, are some rear shocks capable of lifting the car?

Thanks guys! I'm currently trying to scavenge the whole forum on knowledge so that I can make the best informed decision.

They compensate for already lifted rears. No rear shocks will give you a lift

If you want to lift the rear, you can use blocks, add-a-leaf (AAL), or new leaf springs. In order of price, but reverse order for off-roading quality.
