Looking for a fun and easy ride through the Georgia traverse at one of the dates in the poll. (please select the date that works for you)

I was Thinking of Driving up on Friday and camping at the trail head. I know this does not work for everyone so Official meet up would be that Saturday (that we pick). We would ride all day Saturday Camp that night then ride Half the day on Sunday(Coming back towards home)/come home.

The Trail head looks to be about a 3 hour drive from Birmingham to the Trail Head. 2 hours for you guys closer to Gadsden area. So keep that in mind.

I've heard that it is a beautiful drive with great views.

    Date: FEB 29th-March 1st

    MEET UP LOCATION:https://www.google.com/maps/dir/34....57,-84.6732067,158m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m2!4m1!3e0

A weather report will be nice, but probably inaccurate that far out. What we do need to look into is which FS roads will be closed that we have to go around.

Depending on dates I might try to make it over from Mississippi to meet some of you from the area. I will probably be in for the latter two weekends.

Just in the last few days I've started research on doing the GT. Would be nice to hook up with others but I'd be coming from Cincinnati so doing just one full day is not really worth the long drive down there and back. Plus February. Brr! lol

I'll try to keep an eye out for future trips!

Is the plan to start at the end of the trail and work back or the start? Trying to determine how far the return trip will be.

Looks like start to finish the whole loop going from Georgia through Tennessee and back is about a 3 hour trip in total. It looks to be about 105 mile loop which there are all kinds of trails in between for us to go on. The goal would be to ride about 3/4ths of the loop/trails on sat day. Find a camp area that night and finish the loop and come home. Id probably expect like 4 hours of driving Sunday from where we are to home. Well for me in bham it would be about that.

For those who’ve done this Loop before... what are the most technical sections like and can it be done safely without any armor/sliders?

I am putting a trip together for the 2nd weekend in March, otherwise I would join you.

Not to detract from OP's trip, but if anyone wants to run it again, you are welcome to join.

From what i have seen ita nothing major. Just alot of dirst roads and small wash outs. You def dont need sliders for this. Ive only used my sliders a handful of time at orv parks on blue trails and this will not be anywhere close to that skill level.
