Has anyone purchased the TRD hood-scoop on its own? I want to purchase the main hood portion on a separate website from the OEM Toyota parts, and then the rest of it from OEM Toyota parts. Using this diagram (link to Toyota parts center online), which parts do I need to order? Would it be cheaper just to purchase the entire hood from Toyota instead? Vehicle is a 2006 V6 Pre-Run SR5 double cab, desert sand. Thanks all!

Everything you would need for the insert should be included in that diagram you found:

But I’m not all the great reading Toyota’s parts diagrams. Here’s a visual representation of everything you need:

You could always buy the full kit from other places online but you do need to be careful as sometimes a reviewer will say they didn’t receive all the parts. I bought mine from Amazon back in 2014 and received everything but I would be wary nowadays. I paid $140.

Thank you for the info. Yeah in the diagram I was able to find that general area, but was getting confused by the multiple part 76181's priced around $180 (some $110?) each. I think purchasing on Amazon is the best way to go unless I find another retailer (none so far) that sells it. Doing a little bit of searching it seems like they only came in white, red, blue, and black. Black it is... lol

Edit: Well, I just brute-forced clicking every single one that had that 76181 part number and each description tells you a different color. I stand corrected!

Edit 2: Sadly none of them are the desert sand color, and only one part number fits 06' Tacomas: 7618135050C1 At least its black.

Well shoot, you are right about the color, didn’t even think about that. You have quite the specific color to look for! It should look great in black!

If all else fails you can always find your vehicles color code and go to a paint shop and get a spray can of custom made paint for pretty cheap.
