yeah unfortunately that sounds like a lower-end issue.

I wouldn't even bother doing a leak down if the rings test it out bad after getting more compression by soaking them. It's a bottom end issue and to pursue upper-end work is a fruitless venture at this point for him unfortunately.

    See below.

Yeah a lot of smog shops have no freaking clue what they are doing, which is why they are overnight businesses, one day they are here, the next they are gone, BAR usually traps them and they have no clue what the hell they are doing, so they screwed themselves.

I got a hold of my sticker through the dealer earlier this last year, buddy was awesome about getting it.

I stay away from anything that is not either a dark gray color or black under the hood because I want a chance nothing when it comes time for smog. The more incognito everything is the better.

If it is making noise, I would replace it for sure. It is only a matter of time before it craps out on you.

It's the stupidest rule ever. Even if it improves emissions or does the engine better than the current OE setup they will not pass it because it is not OE equipment or does not have a CARB EO number.

It's a pick your evil thing to be honest with you but the intakes which have been found to make the most power that I know of at least are the AFE stage 2, the AFE Momentum GT, and the URD ram air intake. All will require minor modifications to be able to retrofit parts of it on to our trucks specifically.

I am in no position to speak for the volant intakes as not many members that I know of own them and have given raving reviews about it.

Its hit or miss but I think maybe more miss.

Mine leaks and once it got low enough the power from the charger dropped of dramatically.
Leaves a messy of dried up coolant in the engine bay as well.

I haven't fixed it yet. Just keep checking it every few months and adding as needed.

Thank you for the heads up. Sure will be checking.
This sounds really half assed on Magnuson's part.

Does adding a surge/overflow help it? Or replace with an aluminum type coolant can that may hold pressure consistently? Doesn't sound like a cheap fix

on this note i accidentally switched my lines when i changed my pump mount. girgling air randomly. 5 min. line swap and all good. i have my intercooler out line to the top inlet on my overflow/resivoir. my reccomendation unless others say differently. keeps constant fluid to push at the pump.

Im running the URD TCAI and have had no issues with it. I am conscious of water when offroading but it has not stopped me from doing anything (im not a big mud person, I prefer rock crawling or highspeed dirt)

I don't think adding a surge/overflow will help as there isn't much in the way of pressure within the system. Though if I am wrong the guys here will chime in.

The main issue seems to be the sealing of the hose to the reservoir on the input and output barbs.

    This will fix it :D

So an expensive fix would be to buy a figgs... I am hoping @Roostfactor the wizard will be able to make us these maybe sometime this year eh.. ehh???

basically the cap leaks and so does the bottom nipple, can temporarily fix it by tightening the hose clamp more but I am pretty sure if you get it too tight it will crack the wimpy plastic they use. A solid aluminum resi would be best probably.

or like me you could buy a canton, and the retarded expensive cap. and fittings, and more fittings. only to be 9$ shy of a figgs.

No one here DARE talk bad about Figgs.

They are the best ever in the world and we are not deserving of their products.

Are you still using standard worm gear clamps? Or have people noticed a difference in smooth band work clamps? Or constant tension like OE heater hose clamps? I was hoping to hold off on an aluminum tank but being stranded far out somewhere due to a overheating or lack of parts on a trail does not sound good.
