First truck for me. Ever since my friends started to have a family of their own, theyve all traded their cars to SUVs and until i was the last one to have a sports car out ofmy friends lol. Pretty boring without rolling with anyone anymore so i upgraded my FRS to the Taco. Havent looked back since, im enjoying it

This is my 5th Toyota Truck - First was a 1982 (buck-board with a 22R) - Then came a 1988....Then the biggest mistake of my life...A 93 Ranger ...Then, as I regained my senses...a 2001 (A friend still owns it - 230,000 miles and the original clutch...Then came a 2010 (Sold that to a co-worker) and bought my present 2016. Love the truck, does everything I want or need. About to turn 75,000. Also have a 2018 4-Runner. Only thing it has that I wished the Truck had is Heated Seats! Clay

First Tacoma, first Toyota. I grew up with and always had Fords. Honestly never had an issue with any, but I was looking for midside and didn't want to wait for new Ranger and glad I didn't. Been very happy with this truck, though at times I miss driving manual.

I just traded in my 2002 extended cab TRD Off Road with 213,000 miles. Original clutch, starter, alternator and rear brakes! Miss that truck - but really enjoying my new 2019 DCLB TRD Sport.

This is my first Tacoma, but I’ve been driving Toyota’s since 1999. I drove a 96 4Runner until my wife totaled it in 2004 & then I bought a new 2004 that I traded in 2016 for my Tacoma. All vehicles have their faults, but I think Toyota’s have fewer problems than most other brands. Thanks for TW allowing me to be a member and learn about my truck.

most seem to love it, theres a few that really freaking hate it.

so just take a good long test drive, think about it, check out other stuff and take another long test drive.

I liked it but a few things that stood out was the fact that the floor is carpet vs the FJ had a plastic/rubbery material what is quite a bit easier at keeping clean. Also the hood lift support system was better on the fj. I don’t think a 45k$ truck should have the same hood support system as a 1990 camery but that’s just a matter of personal opinion

most would think that the rubbery material is cheaper. I know on chevy the 2500s you can an industrial interior and it is a little cheaper.

might be a japanese thing though. To them cloth is more prestigious then leather so it is what it is.

it’s absolutely cheaper, it’s also far more practical for a truck that’s build for hitting the trails to have an interior thats easy to clean. maybe that’s one reason there was a lack of sales

Truck sales for 2019 model year:
    Ford F-Series 896,526
    Ram Pickup 633,694
    Chevrolet Silverado 575,569
    Toyota Tacoma 249,801

So Tacoma came in a bit of a distance 4th in overall truck sales. While all 3 of the trucks that sold more units are nice trucks, they are also all full size pickups. To me, my Tacoma was the right size and as I have had 3 of them previously (this one my 4th) I can vouch for their Ruggedness And Durability. For my hard earned money, it was the right choice.
