High clearance front bumper, does it really help with clearance?

They look really great and give that "Off Road" look, however, anyone know for sure they wouldn't have made it through a certain rough patch except their "Off Road" front bumper? I am trying to talk myself out of getting one...

I parked on a snow drift in a parking lot just because I could. I would've smashed a stock bumper on the ice. Couple people took pics.
That good enough to get one?

I got the Rock Sliders etc and they are truly useful, but seems like the approach angle is really good stock.

You'll make it through any rough patch with the stock bumpers, just depends on how much plastic you want to leave on the trail. I know Moab still has pieces of my bumper in a few places.

if you dont need dont worry about it, if you want it then yea just get it who cares.

probaly 90% of the stuff people do here you dont need.

theres plenty of guys off roading on stock ors or sr5s with 4x4 no problem.

I think the airbags are deceleration sensors so... don't hit anything that hard. It'll wreck an off road bumper if you hit it that hard

So, until my stock is gone, don't sweat it. I can replace it with a cooler looking one anyhow, don't sweat it. I like that plan.

Why not let the trails you take decide that for you? It's just plastic.

Just listen to these guys. Most of the stuff you and other people will do doesn't require one unless you want to keep that piece of plastic in tip top shape. the departure angle that'll grant you you'll only find needed in a few places and the very rare crawling scenario. Most people don't go that route unless their serious or are finishing a build. Skids and sliders should be a priority over that

I think a high clearance rear should come before the front. Just my two cents. I’ve pooped the black plastic bumper piece out a couple times in the front. But I have hit my hitch countless times and feel lucky to still have the plastic rear bumper covers. They have a few scuff marks and it’s just a matter of time until I part with them on the trail.

I prefer to rip it off on a trail then replace it. Saves you money in the mean time, then saves you time during removal cuz it’s already off.

    win win
