At the time I got ready to do the timing belt, the Schley tool was unavailable from a reseller or even the Schley company. It was back ordered for some unspecified amount of time.

So I said fuck it, and used the OTC 4754 for both camshaft gears and the crankshaft. I already had a 3/4 drive 300lb torque wrench from Nissan projects. There are two (next to the largest size) pins that can be buffed down to exactly fit the holes on in the crankshaft pulley. Those are the shiny pins the middle of the row. Don't try using smaller pins as they won't have a precision fit.

I don't recall spending much over $70 for any new tools required for the job. It just depends on the amount of money you want to throw at it.

I like this guy's video review of the OTC 4754 tool. My working style is closer to the guy in this video. He published a series about replacing 5VZFE heads and cam shafts.

Also, if you are replacing valve cover gaskets at the same time as the front cam seals and the rear full moons, no special seal press tools are required. It uses the same procedure for the resealing the front and rear caps that fit over the full moons and seals.

Loose belt. I have one on another car that needs to be tightened. It does the same thing.

Agree, get a piece of heavy cardboard and tape against the radiator to protect it.

This doesn't bug me as much as the fact that almost all the Yota cars and unibody SUVs are going to be built on a shared platform.....I forget the name of the chassis or whatever. It'll prolly be fine. It helps Toyota standardize their manufacturing process but yeah I dunno.
I didn't like them moving production to USA from Japan, but that went relatively fine. The move to Mexico production would concern me if it was GMC heading up the process. With Toyoda doing it, I'm sure the quality will be same or very similar to one's made here. Toyota manufacturing does well because of the process they implement, not as much as the location of facility.

Yea there's only a few. There's a whole bunch of cool people down in TN and KY I'll go wheeling with from on here. Sucks because that's an 8hr one way drive.

Trying to move out of here but the wardens boot keeps kicking me back over the fence as I try to escape. Was REAAAAALY close last week but that fell through, and I got offered a shit job in a shit part of CA (that's all of it because of the people that live there :D) that I turned it down.
