Just had mine in for timing cover leak and brake light leak. They fixed everything and replaced my headliner without me even mentioning the headliner. Took 7 days but it's back and good now.

I have just realized my 2016 Tacoma Limited is with the water problems along with the mold and mildew due to a leaking 3rd brake light . They are just beginning to take it serious at the Toyota corporate office and I am needing some feedback of just what extents other Tacoma owners went to in order to get Totoya to make things right. I have 56k mileage on the beauty and it is the very best vehicle I have ever owned. I didn't plan on getting a mold blanket in my truck and from what I can tell it's going to be a HUGE undetaking to get rid of it and "not come back". The mold spours are EVERYWHERE in small size but the smell is horendous. If yo have any feedback of how Toyota actually handled it please let me know. My e-mail is danshere402002@aol.com. I would really appreciate the hoops you all went through to get them to make it right. Thanks everybody and YES I will buy another Tacoma. Most amazing truck I have ever owned.

Hey y'all, I need some help. So I have a very slow leak in my 3rd brake light and I have a stain in my headliner from it. I primarily only notice the leak after going through the car wash, which is essential in upstate NY. I took it to Toyota today and they quoted me $501 after the "ts-b discount" because I am out of warranty. I said no thanks, so I am looking to either reseal mine or get a new brake light. I have not yet pulled the headliner, but I do not and cannot smell any mold. Any help y'all can provide regarding pulling headliner, resealing, new light, or what to do if there is mold would be greatly appreciated!!

I'm seriously thinking about pulling mine, although it's not leaking and just seal it knowing that it will likely happen. Taking it in next week for the timing cover leak. 80k on the odometer.

My 2016 Tacoma Limited is in the shop a we speak for this same issue. Mold had began to grow under my carpet. Mine wasnt as bad as others but it was getting terrible quickly. The water ran down in front of the back speaker behind the seat. Make sure you don't have a wet spot on the carpet right below the rear woofer.
Serve Pro is contracted to work with Toyota to clean all trucks with mold or severe water damage. THIS IS NOT A WARRANTY ISSUE AND SHOULD NO BE CONSIDERED AS PART OF A WARRANTY SCOPE. THIS IS A PRODuCT LIABILITY ISSUE. Toyota should have put this leaking cab light on a recall list and they still may do so.

I have my 2017 in the shop now to fix the light. Quoted me around $300. The TSB only covers until 3yr/36K miles. I have 61,000 on mine. This is total crap! The other bad thing is, I have an extended warranty(NOT Toyota Care) and it's not covered either.

    Not too happy right now.

Folks this is a PRODUCT LIABILITY issue and Toyota gas a contract with SERVEPRO restoration company to deal with the mold issue caused by this. Call the Toyota Corporate Divusion, Customer Service, and have them get a case number started. My 2016 Tacoma Limited is now three weeks in the shop and I have e been given a loaner car. This defect should have been pulled into a RECALL case but Toyota decided to see if they could skate on it but I dont think they will be able to. They have known about this for over two years. Just call Toyota Corporate and deal through the top level down The dealer will not and should not be held responsible. Toyota corporate needs to reimburse the dealership that actually fixes it. ServePro will be giving me a letter of Certification that the mold and mildew is Gone. They will do it again if it should come back in the future. Taken 3 weeks so far and I am still waiting to get my truck back but it's worth the wait.

I just went thru the same, but all toyota did was replace the light as of "goodwill" because my warranty was 2 weeks expired.
i called corporate multiple times and basically all i got was out of warranty, out of luck.
this should be literally a recall not a tsb, bs!

KEEP RAISING ATTENTION. This is a PRODUCT LIABILITY ISSUE due to a design flaw and not a source of
normal wear and tear which is what a warranty covers.

Contact Toyota Customer Service, I spoke to Trina.. My claim number was 191 001 2706. They are still working on it and hopefully it will be done this week. The number is 800-331-4331. I was on the phone for about 35 minutes but they did take it serious. THIS IS A HUGE HEALTH problem and Toyota needs to make ir right. They need to recall all trucks and get it fixed. My Tacoma is the finest vehicle I have ever owned and will absolutely buy another one. This is a slight flaw in the design and easy for the Toyota team to fix. Other than this issue....................VERY BEST I HAVE EVER OWNED AND WILL BE DOING IT AGAIN IN A FEW YEARS.

Just spoke with Toyota, and even gave them your case # at the end as a last ditch effort. They said this isn’t covered once my vehicle is past the 3yr 36k Mark. I’m having the third brake light seal replaced tomorrow by the dealership which will cost me $400 and then I don’t know what I’m going to do about the stained headliner and potential mold.

Every TW member that has suffered from this issue should call corporate and flood their lines and complain about it. Its very unfair they are only covering 3yr/36K for something that can happen even after that warranty period.

Especially when it’s a simple $10 part that can cost an owner thousands $$$ due to mold, ruined headliner, etc.

Is there a replacement part number?

It's plain BS. My truck/vin does fall under the TSB. Mine has not leaked YET. I can't believe I have to check my truck on a daily basis if there is water getting in. I literally fold all my back seats down and check the carpet, headliner, cubby space, seats. This does not give me confidence in Toyota DOING THE RIGHT THING. They are actually doing a major disservice by allowing this to continue to happen. We will see many more of these pop up on Tacomaworld. I have kids as well so I'm extra worried.

Everyone needs to call Toyota corporate and complain about this. It doesn't seem like a big deal until it happens to you.

Sometime after midway 2018 they fixed it. My prod date is 6/18 and I'm still affected.
