    Tacoma world,

I need some recommendations on what to do here. I damaged the rear driver side bed panel wheeling over the weekend.

    IMG_3378.jpg

Wanted to get some recommendations on how to get this fixed. My thoughts were to go high clearance bumper but the dent it still higher than where the bed would be cut off to fit the bumper. Another thought was to just have it repaired at a local body shop but I just don't know if the quality will be the same. Another thought would be to find another bed side somewhere in CA.

Any other ideas? I don't want to break the bank but also would like to get this dialed back in as I can't stand the look of it (I know, I know, it's all a part of the fun). At any rate, any other suggestions or recommendations are greatly appreciated.

its not a great pic but after a high cleareance bumper it looks to me like it could be popped out

after popping it out then you can tell wat you need to do

Appears like it can be popped out. I've had similar damage like that on previous trucks and once it was popped out you couldn't even tell it was there

    Mods? Yes.
if paint is not damaged, paintless dent repair service or get behind there from underneath and pop it out yourself.

I dented the top of my cab leaning on it to wax, tried pushing it out but ended up fist punching it, popped right out, I’d at least try that first

That sucker should pop right out. You may have a crack in your paint from that crease up top, but still better than this. You can touch up the crack.

I made a post with similar damage (just not as high up) last week. They quoted $1600 to repair it. Like others have said, you can probably get on the back side with a wood block and pop it back out. Touch-up the crack. Repainting the whole panel to get it correct is $$$$.

Then cut off the lower section and go for a high clearance rear bumper.

    Just leave it as-is :notsure:

Otherwise fiberglass bedsides are probably cheaper than OEM, but you'll still have to paint them which is going to be expensive. If you plan to wheel a lot I'd just leave it as-is or go High Clearance and do your best to pop it back out and touch up the paint.

I would find a PDR guy first before you attempt to do it yourself to get their opinion. Once you try to fix it yourself, the PDR guy wont even touch it. If they say they can fix it, a reputable guy will guarantee their work if you are not satisfied. If they say they cant do it, then wont hurt to try it yourself like others mentioned above. Worse case is you need to buy a new bedside to make it right. Try the above options first.

I'm with @whatstcp. Car-part.com or similar to find a used bed side. If you can find the same color, can do this yourself. The bed side comes off pretty easily (bolt on).

Paying a shop scenario: Since you are paying out of pocket, it will be cheaper to have shop repair that panel at the back side. In this scenario, you won't need to blend adjacent panels. If you put on a whole new bed side, they will need to blend into your cab and rear door. $$$

It might pop out, but it’s got a pretty sharp crease at the top.

You guys are awesome! Thank you for all the rec's. Looks like I'll just try a PDR guy first. If he is able to get it dialed I think I'll need to get the paint thats been chipped, repainted which it sounds like is not cheap.

It does have a sharp crease at the top where the paint is cracked so I would imagine the crease will still show slightly. The rock did some decent scraping on the lower half but if I went HC it would be cut off. I guess I'll just have to see how it goes.

These bedsides are very easy to swap, I’d hit up a scrap yard and find a white one in good shape and go with that. Was $400 cad for one for my 2nd Gen a few years ago. Never had to paint it or anything.
