Also to maximize the space when shopping for a forward facing seat, find one that is low profile and not bulky some of them sit too high and have very bulky sides which takes up a lot of room in front of the child’s legs and makes it impossible to have a middle seat.

Thats pretty much what i'm planning to do when our second comes in May. We just transitioned our daughter to fwd facing and shes in the middle now but when baby 2 comes shes moving over to the passenger seat so the infant seat can take middle

FWIW I'm 6'3" and had to spend a lot of time doing research on carseats because I didn't want to give up my truck and the MT.

FYI the Lower Anchors have a max supported weight of 65lbs! (this includes both the carseats and child)
Please take that into account if using multiple carseats on a single lower anchor which is usually not recommended

based on his post only the middle car seat is anchored

he has a forward facing but I dont think forward facings use the anchors.

Fwd and rear facing still use anchors, if you really wanted to be more cautious, you could wrap a seat belt thru the loops too, can't have too much protection

I believe some forward facing can use the Anchors and Top tether at the same time

I think it depends on the model.
on mine when its forward facing you have the tether, and the seat belt. the anchors dont even reach.

I have a rear facing. I tried every configuration, remove the bottoms, removing that back rest, anything you can think of.

Unfortunately you can’t secure the base station thing with the back rest removed, since the child locks are in the back rest you have to use the seat belt but the seat belts aren’t far enough back to secure it so your car seat is really loose.

Something that kind of worked was removing the 60 bench and placing the car seat in the middle and securing the base station to the back rest clips. However this made it hard to get the car seat in and out so now it just sits in the middle on the seat as it should.

Expecting my first child this week so I’ve been going through the same thing with my DCLB

The only realistic set up was to have the rear facing car seat behind the passengers seat. I tried putting it behind the drivers side and there’s just no way...

no behind drivers is impossible, you can do forward facing no problem. I have 1 rear on passenger and 1 forward behind me with my 4 year old.

my 2 year old is big enough and im finally turning her this week.

It comes down to how tall the driver is too, but yes usually a fool's errand to try and put a seat behind the driver's seat.

Depends on age of your kids and if they are forward or rear facing.

I have my infant behind the passenger side which is rear facing. Then my toddler is forward facing behind my seat. My seat is all the way back and she likes to have her feet up so it works.

Im just trying to wait a few years for the new gen tundra before having to upgrade . It’s a bit tight but it works fine for now. Once my new born can forward face I’ll put her behind me and put my toddler into a high back booster

Also just trying to convince my wife to let us get her a 4Runner so we can use that as a family car so I can keep the taco but gives me another Toyota to mod.

The only issue with the 4Runner is they don’t have blind spot monitors which she really wants. Makes no sense since they added all the other safety features in the 2020 model

Put the car seat in the front and don't bother with a booster, just make sure you put the chest restraint behind the kids when buckling them in. You are a man in a truck, no need for this booster seat crap.

You are correct I did it but it’s not recommended I did not point that out. For the front facing seat its tethered to 2 lower anchor points and the top anchor point and seat belt ran through. For the infant in the middle it’s tethered on 2 lower anchor points one of them is shared by the other seat and I also run the seat belt through it as well.

Some Older vehicles actually don’t have anchor points at all like my 02 F150 super crew, only the seat belt can be used so in essence I am using two different fastening methods at the same time in the Tacoma.
