The S&P's average annual return from 1957 to 2018 is 7.96%. If you can stomach some volatility, and just DRIP, this fund will beat the "market" over time. It may not seem like it as the share price stays flat for decades, but it should beat the market. Capital appreciation would be a bonus!

Natgas is below $2.. I feel bad if you don't buy any. Record shorts by managed money.. blood is in the streets. Look at daily or even monthly candle charts.. we are at/near the bottom folks

What platform are you guys using to trade? I have Charles Schwab for my roth IRA and 401k, but I am looking to invest some of my savings in the market. TD Ameritrade? Robinhood? Should I stick to Schwab?

I've been using Robinhood and Webull.
I like the idea of having instant control over my investments.... for free.... on my phone.
Whether or not that's actually a good thing remains to be seen :D

Seems weird asking for financial advice on a truck forum but this thread seems pretty legit. I am a recent college grad, early 20's working as a CPA. Maxed out my roth IRA for 2019 and 2020, currently getting an employer match on my 401k, contributing 13% of my paycheck. I can definitely contribute more but I like having cash for possible real estate investment.

What do you guys recommend I do with my savings? Save cash for another year and have a very hefty downpayment for a rental property or do I invest right now in the market? I know you can never time the market right but it seems a little risky to invest my savings in the market right now.

Opinions will differ but I am in a pretty similar situation. Outside of maxing Roth and doing 10% + 5% match in my 401k, I focused on building cash in order to purchase a house that I could rent out bedrooms to buddies. Greatly reduces my mortgage, I get equity in a fast growing market, and I got a house for myself and a yard for my dog.

You are 100% on the right track with your retirement investments, so make sure you use your cash in a way that benefits your happiness in a way that hopefully also builds equity or side-income (house equity or rental income). Or spend some of it on truck parts like loads of us on this forum :spending:

Some one brought up NMZ a few pages back. It’s a muni bond fund, pretty stable, pays 5% annually (paid monthly), and is tax exempt. I am considering using it as a savings account type vehicle instead of being all in on stocks.

thanks for joining the thread... respectfully disagree tho... ZIRP has killed cash.

But don't mind me, the Fed says there's "no inflation" after "hedonic quality adjustments"

But there isnt any inflation? A gallon of milk still cost $2 and a 42 inch tv is still $400. See no inflation
Dont worry that a house cost 4x as much as it did 20 years ago, or that health insurance cost double or a college education takes you 10 or more years to pay off.
People even make a couple more dollars an hour than they did in 2003 so your purchasing power has actually increased.

I'm getting to the end of my career and about to move into retirement. Obviously I need to think more conservative.

I need a direction to move my company 401k when I pull the pin in 11 months.

An okay pension along with my 401 and probably way more cash than a normal person should have, I think my next 30 years should be comfortable.

    So many choices...

Not cheap enough IMO. They have suspended building 737s now without a clear path toward certification. That's their bread and butter, the RAV4 of their line up if you will. Certification will likely require simulator training so it will cost companies time and money to retrain pilots = lost revenue from cancelled flights = airlines are likely to seek additional damages. Some orders may get cancelled or reduced. And now they are trying to take on 10 billion in debt.

This is definitely one of those companies that's too big to fail, you will probably be fine long term, but Im not investing my dollars.

I think in 10, 20 years, people won't even remember this happened. The share price will be higher, and you'd collect a decent dividend along the way. As far as timing when to buy, your guess is as good as mine. I'd expect several years of consolidation in a range before this is forgotten about.
