Pretty sure all 3rd Gen Access cabs made thru 2019 at least were built in Texas

You see, 4runners have always been made in Japan. Tacoma was designed and first built here, so there is connection with Tacoma and the US.

Close, but your numbers are a little off:

With no job loss, I'm failing to see what the uproar is about?

If it wasnt for this forum, I wouldnt even know they were built in the US to begin with.

I thought they were shipping them from japan. So at least for me, when I went Toyota I rescinded any thought of America in the transaction.

You've said that before, I'm still failing to see where the issue lies. If their suppliers are currently US based, it's up to the supplier if they will follow Toyota to MX (I bet the answer is no) and I don't see any reason Toyota would change suppliers since they are already mfg more than half of the Tacomas in Mexico using those same suppliers. Toyota can't directly tell their suppliers how many jobs they need. If production out of MX is more efficient having it all under one roof and more trucks are built as a result, this could actually create more US jobs.

It rubs the wrong way. People don’t like big corporations outsourcing their products.

That makes no sense. They aren't outsourcing their products...the JAPANESE company has in-sourced their product to the US for a while...it's not like it's a US company that's now sending this out of the country.

if he really cared about American jobs you wouldnt have a bought a toyota to begin with...
Even though its not true, the sticker on the vehicle says made in japan lol.

And in no way shape or form to they market it as an American made vehicle.

They could be but what does that have to do with the jobs in the US? My point is if the indirect jobs that the previous guys hinted at are US based suppliers to Toyota then an increase in Tacoma volume could make their suppliers have to hire more US jobs. The scale up in Mexico will probably ALSO mean more mexican jobs, which is also a good thing for the economy.

Current suppliers might be supplying the new Mexican factory, but I don’t know. Yes, an increase in production may help existing suppliers, but not if they can’t compete across the border or move.

US citizens would like all of this on our side of the border. Of course we do.

The reality is the only reason Tacoma production is moving is profit. They make a shit ton of tacos and they can do it cheaper in Mexico, apparently.

Personally I see the Tundra and Sequoia business is at risk. But we’ll see what the new Toyota USA guy does.

Am I the only person who thinks Toyota is hoping to double sales of the Tundra and grow Sequoia with a redo? They were originally going to build corollas at this plant and they kept them in USA. Toyota built this plant in Mexico. They have to put something in it. Tacoma doesn't seem like a bad choice since 60% of them are already built there.

electric is the new "IT" thing. manufacturers creating smaller vehicles/engines 3rd gen 3.4 or raptor v6 so I cant really see Tundra/Sequoia doubling.

I’m a US citizen and I bet most of the people that have replied to this thread are as well and based on the majority of the replies, we couldn’t care less where they are made. You shouldn’t talk in absolutes.

100% agree. You can thank Unions in the US for driving up the cost of manufacturing on this side of the border.
