Anyone have a factory head unit for a 2013-2014 non JBL taco? In need of a replacement and don’t want to go aftermarket.

I just replaced my head unit with a Sony purchased thru Crutchfield. Definitely worth it and installed myself. Makes stock speakers sound much better just haven’t had time to replace original speakers yet. Crutchfield sends wire harness needed for the taco and if you need help their tech support is phenomenal. Had a few questions about inputs and they walked me thru it.

@MightyMouseTom might I ask why you want go OEM? Aftermarket radios sounds sooooooooo much better.
For about $200. and a couple hours time, you can get everything you need and have much better sound and some features, like Bluetooth, that stock radios don't have.

Crap, I just need to go aftermarket. Anyone have any suggestions for an easy to install HU that doesn't look like one of those hanging bar jukebox machines?

I'm sure I could do the HU myself but pulling the door and body panels for speakers

with an aftermarket HU you will probably need the meistro to have the steering wheel controls. But then you lose the factory mic to use for phone calls. And you will need to buy a dash trim kit, they are typically ~$20.

With that being said yes you will get much better sound and power to your speakers with an after market HU. Pioneer makes good units for a decent price. Some are just media players and dont come with disc drives so keep that in mind. I just put in an AVH2300. The difference in sound and loudness was immediately noticed! Much better/cleaner signal to my amps!

If you plan to run your factory speakers make sure you dont turn it up too loud or you are going to blow them! If you decide to upgrade the speakers, buy component speakers and only do the front as you dont really hear the sound from the rear speakers. They are placed at the floor behind the seats so sound is blocked so just pull the door cards and unplug them when/if you install new speakers up front.

These have always been a favorite to me. Great sound for a good price. And the tweeters are CRISP!

i believe depending on the brand you pick for a dash kit you will either get a grey textured or a black smooth one.

That looks pretty clean. I need to do something like that. Of course with my base model HU with no BT, I don't have any steering wheel controls, factory BT mic etc. to integrate ;)

And a beer to you, TXinAK, for hooking up the OP.

If I don’t get my hands on one before then shoot me a message once it’s out! Thanks man!

    is it the touchscreen?

    this is a possibility

not for me truthfully. A buddy of mine on my base here in TX is just getting into the taco scene and he needs a replacement for his 2013 non-JBL touchscreen.

done deal if you’ll send it my way!

Ah okay. Maybe I should have clarified that. Apologies. I’m looking for one of the non JBL factory OEM touchscreens from the 13-14’s. Some 12’s had them but hard to come by

I think he likes his factory set up. I still run mine on factory but I added the hideaway with DSP. It sounds amazing. You can still get a lot out of that HU if you specifically want to keep the factory look like he does. But he needs a replacement because his is jacked. I am just helping him find a used one and going to show him house to swap it out. Thanks though man!

That's cool. I had a 6 disc I would have offered. Sadly, it got recycled a couple weeks ago.
