Ok I am at home for lunch downloading the file in preparation for testing tonight and had a couple of questions for clarification purposes. I just want to make sure I am on the same page as the rest and especially Mat,so I can give him accurate feedback.
First, everyone's perception/definition of defco and rev hang may vary, can someone outline and explain the characteristics of each. Second what method/technique/scenarios will give me the best results for assessing these?

    1. Decel fuel.
    - Put the truck into 1rst gear. Drive slowly to about 10mph or about 2500 RPM.
    - let the truck decelerate, on it's own, no braking, down in speed.
    - observe when the truck stops decelerating and the engine is now fueled / driving again. You should be able to feel it.
    - Note, the RPM limit for it on the test file is low (explained in the email). If you go under 1000 rpm and the truck is still decelerating on it's own with no noticeable change don't let it stall.

    2. Rev Hang
Drive the truck up to 2nd gear.
Accelerate in second gear until about 5000 RPM
Push the clutch in and observe how quickly the RPM of the engine falls. Normally it will fall, and "hang" right about 4000 rpm (according to users here) and drop at a slower rate.

If you guys have anything to include please do!

For me, Rev Hang is spotty. I will do my best to assess it. It mainly happens when I am playing on an on ramp or accelerating hard from a stop. At the same time with the on ramp, I am checking traffic and such, so it is hard to tell exactly what I am doing when I hear and feel it hanging.

For DFCO, I usually experience it most when coasting down a hill in slow moving traffic and 1st gear. Getting on and off the gas is really inconsistent, even above about 1,500. I can see when DFCO kicks in and verified it many times with the PiD on OBD Fusion. Sometimes, the throttle will hang open and it will drive ahead until I hit a bit of brakes. Once the revs drop below the DFCO RPM, I can see the injectors turning back on and the engine will surge a bit.

Like I have said in the past, idle uses 0.2gal/hr. I will see fuel flow rates at 0.8 or greater when DFCO should be saying 0.0gal/hr. Fun stuff.

This is why I am really interested to see what this test tune does. In the end, these oddities are very manageable and not what I would call dangerous in any respect. I'm just looking for consistency.

Rev hang is most noticeable in first. Hit 5-7k rpm and clutch in. It’ll feel like an eternity for the revs to fall before you can goto 2nd.

low speed driving in first or second gear is quite noticeable. My truck is quite jerky around 1500 rpms. I’ll also notice it coasting to a stop while still in 5/6. You’ll be slowing down, then suddenly you aren’t

Agreed. I've seen those situations. More 2nd / 3rd on the latter though.

I am going to do what OVT posted and also my normal stuff. :woot:

Dfco drives me nuts. I engine brake first gear in traffic a lot.

That 1500 rpm release is a killer. If it was 1000 that would be wonderful. 800 even better, as long as it can catch itself before stalling.

I regularly ride 6th down to 1000 coming to a stop then pop neutral.

Rev hang is worse for me between 1st and 2nd. Timing gets way off. I notice it worse when you accelerate the 4k or so in first gear, then for some reason you have to back off (ie car turning, light changes) when you push the clutch in to either coast out it shift to second gear it just sits there, forever, waiting. i usually feather the clutch out to slow it down, but this creates more wear i don't want.

test files sent out to several of you guys.
ONLY looking for feedback. They are not full tunes or meant to really be driven on.
Most important feedback is the DFCO, as there are a few other tables for rev hang that may need some modification if that primary table doesn't do the job.

Also while I'm digging in here. What else can I quickly include into this upcoming release? (if there is anything specific)

I've been working on a TON of tables. and I recall someone asking me a long time ago about modifying alternator output, for example
