I venture that is 24 VAC like the rest of Miller and Hobart wire feed motors

With The Serial number I can get the part #

The scary part is the control board controls the wire feed

Is this a tapped voltage machine ?? Between ranges you have no wire feed .

217 778 is the part number for that motor.

What’s everyone prefer for their mig wire?

I’ve always ran the Hobart .030 but I’ve heard that Inefil and Lincoln also both have excellent wire

I only buy 44 lbs. spools and I only buy whatever comes on a metal cage spool. The metal spools don't break if someone drops the box.

I only buy from my local welding supply because I can look over the roll of wire before I buy.

I honestly can't tell a difference between brands. 70S is the same to me no matter what box it came in.

I have no idea what is in my 2 machines.

If I need wire I get the House brand of where ever I happen to be I only buy .023 wire.

I get more then enough other size wire coming back off rental machines people no longer want the wire and just leave it in the machine.

I run house brand (whatever the welding place has) .035 and have never had any issues. 44 lb spools.

Truth be told it’s probably all made at the same place and has different labels on it.

I just finished a 10lb spool of INEFIL in .030 and I’ll be buying it again. I like the way it burns

I have INEFIL from Amazon, .030

I like it enough to buy it again when the time comes. Being a weekend warrior, the welding shop is too far away from work for lunch hour trips, and never open on the weekends. so I bought from Amazon.
    no complaints.

Have you put a volt meter on the wires to see if the motor is actually getting some voltage?
have you tried turning your wire feed knob back and forth a bunch? perhaps some of the contacts in there are dirty causing it to "think" you have it on zero.

alright, last post I promise! ( lat least for a few hours :D )

trying to get my sliders done in my un-heated garage. I was thinking about the welding process, and how it heats up the metal etc...
pretending that my welds are "perfect" would cold metal be something to concern myself with? should I pre-heat with a propane torch before welding, or am I over thinking this? 1/8" - 3/16" thick stuff

    the temps I'm talking about are the -5C to -10C range ( 23F t0 14F )

    If it matters:

Cool I’ll give the inefil wire a shot. $5 cheaper per spool compared to the Hobart brand brand wire also

If welding aluminum, yes preheat when working in those temps. Iron, you won't see any difference.
