I am running your same setup with a 17x9 -12 rim and I’m on stock ride height right now. With a 2 inch lift you should be fine doing street driving and maybe some off-road stuff but if you want to go do some hardcore off-roading your not going to be able to articulate without rubbing. My 285s dont drive much different than my 265/70/17. 30BD392A-B547-4AFA-8D91-B25205FF1C31.jpg

I had two different setups the biggest variable for people will the the type of wheels they get it can change what worked for guy and what doesn’t work for another.

    1st setup
2” lift, 285/75r16, Taco Pro wheels.... had a slight rub at full lock in reverse could not get the alignment to my comfort.

2nd setup (in order to get my alignment properly done)
Same 2”in lift same 285’s and wheels plus 1” BORA spacers, JBA UCA’s alignment at 4.5 degrees, CMC, flattened pinch welds, massaged the wheel well liners with heat gun and trimmed the stock mud flaps....

Both setups worked it’s just how much are you willing to spend and how involved you want to get if you want a more proper setup. Now it rides to my satisfaction no rubbing and I average 19-20 mpg with 285’s and no regear :headbang:

I have a 3/2 spacer and block lift with the 17" TRD 4 runner rims with 285 BFG KO2 and there is no rubbing...never needed to trim or chop anything. Check out 88 Rotors on YT, there's a ton of vids on it

2" lift and 285's fit mine just fine with ZERO trimming.
Rubs the UCA's at full lock... but... big deal. I dont drive to work every day at full lock.
It's been this way for over a year and 18,000 miles without issue.

Just installed my new wheels/ tires today. Around 2" lift with JBA UCAS and I rub with 285's. Will be shooting for some more caster, trim some plastics, and CMC. Parking lot it rubs, on the road it never really rubs.. Backing up, it sounds gross lol.

Are the other numbers in the actual tire part number not important once you get to 285? Like what's the height of said 285's, what size wheel will these magic 285's go on. I've noticed that 80% of posters don't post a full tire size and this is where a bunch of misinformation gets sent out it seems.

    Oh well!

    Back to arguing :argue:

I think it's more about the rim and it's offset; the differing offset ranges I believe it what causes some to rub and others not...

I'm sure this is a reason as well but the numbers 285 get thrown around so much with no regard to details of height let alone wheel offset.

Be careful with whose advice you buy. There’s a lot of BS on TW. A lot of people like to bend the details.

Let's put it this way, under full compression and full lock I rub on a 2.5" lift with 265/70r17s So it just depends what you're doing with your truck. Also depends on your particular truck also. Same wheel/tire setup as someone else with the same susension doesn't mean it's going to have the same exact rub points or any to begin with.

CMC, WITH SPC UCA’S. Soon to be Camburg ball joint UCA. ON 2.5” of lift.

I definitely agree with those indicating that it's all in the details. What are the wheel specs, how do you plan to use the truck, etc. One enthusiast may need trimming and CMC, while another may not for their application.
