    @shakerhood

    When I got hit by the drunk driver in 2015, and he lied about what happened, USAA paid to fix my truck, waived the deductible, and didn't raise my rates!

    There was a guy on here a few years ago that had his truck stolen, after it was recovered they kept trying to blame him and think he was involved, felt bad for him but think they finally covered the damages.

    I have a rule when it comes to dealing with insurance companies...

    If someone hits my truck and I've never heard of their insurance company, then it's time to contact my insurance company and/or lawyer up! Found that out the hard way after the drunk guy hit my truck!

    This guy had USAA and if memory serves me was active duty, think they even wanted to fingerprint him or something else ridiculous.

    I've had nothing but good luck with 'em; My dad has used them for almost 40 years!

    @shakerhood

    Is the steering in your Mustang rack-and-pinion or recirculating ball?

    Right before I moved to Ohio a guy in an S10 Blazer hit my car and when he gave me his insurance card and it said Geico on it. This was long before the lizard commercials and no one had even heard of them. They ask me to drive a long distance to a dealership to meet them which I reluctantly agreed.
    They had a small trailer on the premises and they looked at my car invite me in the trailer, print out a check, push me out and close the door. I look at the check and the parts breakdown and notice they have like $15 for a headlight, my car had big glass headlights so there was no way.
    I walked over to the parts department and show them the parts breakdown and they had the totally wrong year and part number for the headlight. Armed with the correct info I make a trip back to the trailer.
    I try to open the door and it's locked so I knocked, they asked who it was. I explained that they had made an error and they respond with "We Are Closed"! I pounded on that door and they said they would call the cops and for me to just call a 1-800 number on the paper.
    Many, many phone calls and time were wasted before they finally sent me an extra $100 to cover the correct headlight.

    This was in the '92 Mustang?

    Also, I took an advertising copyrighting class in college; The professor said that animals (especially dogs and cats) and babies are a surefire way to have a winning ad campaign! I guess an anthropomorphic gecko works too...

    Rack and Pinion. In fact I swapped in a rack from a 2004 Cobra, had to change out the steering shaft to get it to work but it was worth it for the awesome steering feel it has now.

    And I guess you knew that Mustangs had live rear axles well into the 2000s?

    No this was prior to me purchasing the Mustang. I had a 1988 Golf which had big aerodynamic glass headlights, prior models just had the old fashion square plug in style for which they tried to rip me off with.

    What do you think of the new Mustangs? I don't like them that much; My personal trainer (a woman, by the way) who is a lifelong Mustang fan who thinks they're too Nissan-like.

    1999 Cobra was the first with IRS if memory serves me. I don't mind the solid rear, my car handles plenty fine.

    The 2005-2010 Mustangs had solid rears.

    My dad wanted to buy a new Mustang convertible in 2005, but they were so hot back then that my local dealer (the very same one where I'd end up detailing cars 13 years later) was selling even the lousy V6 automatic models for a thousand bucks over MSRP! GTs were on backorder!

    My dad ended up with a 2002 BMW 325 convertible, which is an all-around better car than a stinkin' V6 Mustang!

    2003 and 2004 Cobra also had IRS, those were beefier than 1999 IRS as they were supercharged. I would never buy a V6 Automatic Mustang as it defeats the purpose of having one in the first place. I would not mind getting ahold of a Coyote 5.0 to swap into my car at some time in the future, that would be a beast!

    Doesn't make sense for them to use the Mustang name. The do have a current prototype electric Mustang with a Manual Transmission, that car is actually pretty cool.

    I can't believe it's going into production. It's hideous.
