The current 'bikini pearl' color is fairly close to my dearly departed suzuki samurai's teal color, and I have a never ending lust for 2-door rubicons... first-world problems are real.

That is the main problem, and I'd have to get a crazy high price for my tacoma to actually sell it.

Too bad Toyota didn't add a 4-door variant to the FJ40
TJ is definitely the sweet spot.

They have a 3 year 36 comprehensive and a 5 year 60k powertrain warranty. I generally keep jeeps for about 4-5 years anyway and lose on average of about 4-5k when selling. that equates to about 83 dollars a month. Thats a steal in my opinion. If im looking for a long term vehicle. Ill be getting a used GX460 or new tacoma.

Driving the JLUR makes you feel like a kid with the fenders sticking out. Is it the best in the desert? Heck no! but it provides tons of confidence when driving offroad that Ill be able to make it up almost all obstacles I point it at.

Last Jeep that was great was the 4.0L Cherokee. After that with Liberty, Wranglers, etc, Fiat has been running on the old Jeep name. That's about it.

When i was shopping for my 1st gen it was pretty much that or a TJ. Taco beat it hands down in bed capacity. Still wouldn't mind getting a cheap old Cherokee and turn that into a crawler.

FCA considered an independent front and rear suspension for the redesigned Wrangler. The boss, Mike Manley, rejected the proposal. Can you imagine the backlash that would have created?

Yep, maintenance and a proper alignment will fix any death wobble issues.

It's not a power thing, it's just a Jeep is an inline motor thing to me. It's kind of like a Chevy truck, they're a V8 thing, a Honda is an inline 4 thing, jeeps should have 6 inline cylinders in my mind..

I've owned both the JK and a 2nd gen taco. I had nothing but problems with my JK. Ended up getting a lawyer for lemon law before I hit 13,000 miles on it.

Death wobble is almost always over exaggerated. People with unbalanced wheels call it death wobble nowadays lol. True death wobble rarely happens and typically its the trackbar fault which is allowing the front axle to move side to side. The only alignment you can do on a stock jeep is center the steering wheel and adjust the toe-in. Everything else requires adjustable aftermarket parts such as adjustable control arms.

Maintenance is no worse than any other vehicle. I’ve got a JK with 130k miles. Yes, I’ve had the death wobble because I lifted and slapped on 35s without maintaining my ball joints (meaning not properly greasing them). 100% my fault

aside from that I’ve had no issues with mine and replaced nothing but fluids at this point.

the JL I’ve heard nothing but horror stories about on the early models. I’d bet they have those ironed out by the time the gladiator came out. Only thing that pisses me off is the towing capacity on that truck. That’s why I have a Super Duty now in addition to the Jeep.

if you compare the Jeep to the Tacoma obviously the Tacoma is going to win with retained value and mileage expectations. BUT you can’t count out the lifestyle and the top/doors off experience matched with being one of the most capable off road vehicles on the market. If you buy a Jeep, you buy it for those two things. I still have to fight the urge to not wave at Jeeps in my Ford..

I had a Jeep Wrangler for 4 years and found it terrible on slick roads. Main seal leak at 100k miles, sold it! Fun for first year or so, but looking to sell in just a few years. Never looked back. My wife hated it!

    Still stock completely capable!
The truly sad part is jeeps are now a fiat and fiat is the worst rated build the biggest hunks of shit on this planet and everything they touch truly turns to trash! I know Dodge Chrysler never really had a good name but I could sorta still take a risk on them. In 18 I was looking for a new vehicle. And the 3 main vehicles I considered were F150, Tacoma, Jeep rubicon. I hit the Toyota and Ford dealerships first and when I was going to hit the local Jeep dealership my buddy said you know Fiat bought Chrysler right ?! Well I opened the internet for a quick search and how crushed I was to realize this was true! I think jeeps look awesome with big tires and lots of mods but I wanted to buy something for the long haul and I just couldn’t take a gamble on a Fiat! Truly heart breaking! I don’t hate on people for getting jeeps and I honestly love the look of them I just couldn’t do it myself!

Like I said, a proper alignment. That means getting all number where they are supposed to be, that may require adjustable arms, aftermarket arms, or maybe stock parts if you’re not lifted. Regardless, alignment being out can contribute to death wobble just as much as worn parts can.

It literally cannot. Actual death wobble is caused by oscillations building and too much tolerance in a wearing part. Sure alignment can be the catalyst to send the Jeep into a death wobble scenario but it in no way is a cause. Steering stabilizers don’t fix death wobble either, they can only potentially slow the vibrations down to a controllable point. It’s almost always tie rod ends, drag links, control arms, track bars, ball joints or unit bearings.

Death wobble is one of two things 99% of the time. Either ball joints or the Track Bar ends being worn and not torqued to spec.

Blame it on alignment or your steering stabilizer if you need to.. but it’s never either of those things
