The lack of stress on night shift guys is directly related to lack of management on sight. For the most part the actual operators know more about any given unit than the main boss that’s running around 9-5.

    Damn that's a hell of a shift. 12s or 16s?

Damn that sucks. I've had to do a few 6-6 or 10-8, or 8-6, even a 8-noon once. But 11-11 just seems cruel.

Yeah, my 12s are 11-11 and my 8s are 11-7.
I could switch it up and do my 12s 7-7 or do four 10s but I think this one is the least shitty for me.

As long as I get 40hrs, they don't really care. I tried doing two days with 7p-7a and the other two 11p-7a but changing the time that I wake up was screwing with me. Having all of my shifts start at 11p is nicer. Four 10s would suck cause it'd be 10p-8a and I'd overlap an hour with Swings and an hour with Days. No thanks.

We have all kinds of shifts here. 7a-3p, 7a-7p, 11a-11p, 1p-1a, 3p-11p, 7p-7a, 11p-7a. I'm lucky they let me keep a set schedule with OT each paycheck.

Yeah, we don't have that many. The only time I ever get OT is if I have to come in on my normal days off or (rarely) they need me to stay for a 12 instead of an 8.

We're so short staffed that they don't even bitch about OT anymore

Ours is suppose to stay below 4%, but it's just not possible.
