Back in 80’ or 81’ me and a buddy went fishing on the Shenandoah at Upperville. Didn’t mean to camp, just worked out that way. Buddy had a trailer about 10 miles up the ridge. Memorial weekend Friday night 4-wheeled down to the river in a 4x4 Chevy Luv under the influence. Drove through a fairly deep pool beside the river, must have had a rock bottom. Made a u-turn towards the river to make our way to the grocery and the trailer for the night. Buried up, had a frying pan and cooking oil with us and a cooler full of beer. Nothing else. Ate catfish and drank beer for 3 days trying to dig my truck out to no avail. Monday afternoon walked out, found a local farmer with a tractor. He drove as far as the pool , stopped, swore”what the hell were you boys thinking? I’m not going in there!” Well I finally talked him into it, sweetened the deal and he pulled us out. Moral of this story? Go to the store before you get stuck so you don’t have catch all your food. And have more beer with you!o_O:thumbsup:

If you're offroading with Jeeps bring plenty of recovery equipment and tools.

I think the biggest thing I'm worried about is not having an aggressive enough tire. These are the same tires i bought the truck with and I'm not ready to dish out the money for new tires. I should be able to get by with the MAXSA pads

To add to this, what kind of tools do you guys keep on your trucks? I'm putting together a tool bag in case of running into any issues (Or fixing jeeps)

I just trail ride, I don't play on the rocks so I just carry tow strap, a tire plug kit, pump, metric socket kit, channelock pliers, a axe and a shovel. I'm driving either my old Landcruiser or my old 4runner so my vehicles are alot older than yours.

I pound a lot of pavement, but I do carry some truck essentials. Jumper cables, tow strap, ratchet straps, socket set, and tool bag with various pliers, screwdrivers, open end wrenches, hitches, flashlight, tape, etc. Probably missed a few things. It all fits under or behind my back seat. I have downsized and modified my kit over the years. I kept a much larger mechanics toolkit in my Ranger. In my supercharged Honda I kept spare belts and the tools for the tensioner. Always good to be prepared.

Many thanks for both the welcome and the info. I absolutely have no problem paying for quality, especially for this mod as it can turn out pretty disgusting when done by some fly by night. I’ll be calling them later today.

Cool, I doubt very much you will be disappointed should you choose to give them your business.

Normally I get my tint done in the middle of the summer when the heat helps cure it faster. I didn't take delivery of the truck until November and didn't want to wait until the summer so I just had it done. Obviously I haven't opened the windows since then with the temps dropping like they have (my dumb luck). To help though, I've been parking my truck on the top level of the parking garage downtown here at work. I figured with the full sun it would help. I believe it did. Today marks 4 days, their recommended amount of time considering the cold temps.

Today when I arrived and before I got out, I was looking through the window. I tell ya, this is by far so much better than Suntek or 3M. I paid more for the Llumar tint in my Lexus and this equals, or exceeds that. The best part about these expensive tints is the lifetime warranty.

Tint turning purple or green over time doesn't happen anymore but I have seen them get hazy. My Llumar looks the same after 4 years. I expect this Expel to be the same way. If not I will get it replaced for free.

With a modern vehicle and all the electronic gear we have in them (cell phones, etc) it's important to make sure not to select metalicized tints. I always go for the carbon fiber stuff. Not only does it look the best from the inside out, I've never experienced interference.

Sorry John, Busy AF for a change here.

Harbor Freight Apache 9800 I got this on sale though for $99. + tax. It's worth every penny of the $150. It is the real deal.

I didn’t even think about the heat factor, or lack thereof. Oh well, I’ve already made my appointment as I have absolutely no patience. I have these blackout emblems and tip, I hesitate to call it a “package”, and they look great but now I need to even up the windows. I’m going with 20% to match the rear. I tend to be overly cautious so I’ll go beyond the recommendations. Thanks again for all of the great info.

Sweet. Just do what I did, lock the windows out and then put some tape over the window controls to remind you, and let it sit in the sun every day for a couple of days. I'm opening mine tonight! Oh! If you have vent visors they may need to remove them. Especially if they are in-channel. At least until they cure.

Yea, I feel ya. I either want them all done or none of them done (which by the way I've seen on an SR, and it looked awesome). Yea, all my encroûtements (for you Brett) are black. Did you go with the XR or the Plus? Or CS? I did the XR at 20% if I remember correctly. It's legal or close enough you won't get pulled over.

Nice! And honestly, I get nothing in return. They don't even have any shirts or hoodies that fit me. The decals and key chains are free so.....
