One truth, is all Tacomas rust. They just stagger the recall. They’ve been purposely making rusty pickups since the early 80’s. It’s a tradition at Toyota. 2020s will be no different.

    2017 Tacoma OR 4x4 (formerly a 1998 SR5 PU, 2002 OR 4x4, 1995 4x4 4Runner, 1985 4x4 Toy PU) ... and RIP’s (rust in pieces) to a Bronco II 4x4 & S10 Blazer 4x4
What’s rust? My 2002 had over 250k and my 2017 is at 40k and neither had rust. None of my cars had it except the Bronco and Blazer that were eastern cars. Oh... Another good reason to stay west...

I'm going to settle this argument once and far all. I am uniquely qualified to do so since I owned a 2017 Tacoma before my 2019.

    They both equally suck.

    Have a nice day,

    Skip.

Well my 2017 OR just started stalling when I make turns. Also the rear of the truck shakes a bit. This does not happen all of the time. I am thinking this has something to do with the fuel pump. Taking it in to the dealership tomorrow

I kinda want mine to be on the list, wouldn't mind getting a new frame when it's 15 years old. Lucky SOBs

This is actually my first Japanese (Texas built) vehicle but from my limited experience nearly all Japanese stuff tends to rust through. They manage to make their metal thinner so the same rust on my Ranger didn't eat through the frame but on a Taco it might... plus the rusty fenders on every random old Japanese car is a lot.

Still, I want an old school AE86 though and that old 2000GT is hella sexy!

    they cant all be winners.

however googling stalling while turning seems to be a somewhat common issue with vehicles so im sure you'll be fixed up in no time. it is a 17.

LOL you and that one other guy. It's hump day and I'm slacking.

I did actually want that 17 MGM TRD Sport but the price was redonkulous! They wanted $35k for a 19k mile truck long bed just cause long beds are in demand. Couldn't get him down to 32 that I wanted so I got my 19 for 30k new hehe stripper base model though but I like her. 19 had the SX package which made her pop a little, I call it the poor man's TRD, PTRD (Poor Toyota Racing Development).

I was also leaning towards the 2.7 as I like that it's the old model engine. My Ranger had a 3.slow V6 but that engine is unkillable.

The only thing I wish I had on this truck is the skewp... I have skewp envy hehe but she's a fun toy since the wifey made me sell my Mustang (said it was unsafe)

Now that's a deal! 7k miles is nothing.

I was shopping 1/2 year old trucks but was really only getting a few grand off original sticker and most had 20 to 30k miles. Happened to find this truck that the dealer and costco program gave me the same price I was offered on literally a base stripper 4 seat 4x4 but I got the SX package, tailgate extender, tube step, mudflaps, and weather mats. Saved me the trouble of swapping wheels and adding stuff later.

Still pricey though for a truck. My old Ranger (Mazda B3000) was 17k new haha

I put my vin on toyota website and it gives you all the detailed stuff the previous owner did at a toyota dealership. every complaint everything.
He complained about back end vibration, the engine feeling its going to stall and some other thing.
I have experienced some back end vibration when slowing down, but i dont remember it when I had stock tires. I think my k02s are messed up personally but whatever im not super picky.

And yea following the pricing threads pisses me off because of what I paid, but yea long beds are premium and then nevermind that it was quicksand trd or.

With 7k miles there aint much you can do it so i jumped on it. he wouldnt even have had to change the oil lol and it would have been fine.

Quicksand, doublecab, longbed... yeah those are never going to be cheap. I found a ton of cheap short bed double cabs but I needed the 6 foot bed. Wife said the little one can deal with the extend cab so I got that. He fits... sort of... haha

Bad thing is if he's pissed at me, he can reach my head

BTW Thanks for the VIN/Service thing I never knew about that. Just signed up.

We have speed limits higher than that here. I’m not sure how many Tacoma owners routinely exceed 80 though.

I prefer 75mph for long distance cruise control stretches.
